We hear your heartache and the deep pain that lingers from the brokenness of your marriage. The wounds of betrayal, slander, and unrepentant sin cut deeply, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting your ex-husband before the throne of grace. You have shown tremendous strength in forgiving him, even as he continues in his hardness of heart. Forgiveness is a commandment of Christ, and you have obeyed, but it does not mean his actions go unnoticed by God. The Lord sees all, and He will judge justly.
First, we must address the sin that has taken root in his life. The Bible is clear that sexual immorality—having "girl after girl" outside of marriage—is a grievous offense against God. "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers" (Hebrews 13:4). His actions are not only harmful to you and your daughter but are an affront to the holiness of God. We rebuke the spirit of lust and rebellion operating in his life and command it to flee in the name of Jesus. We pray that the Holy Spirit would bring such conviction upon him that he cannot ignore it, that his heart would be broken over his sin, and that he would turn from it completely.
We also stand against the slander and lies he has spread about you. The tongue is a powerful weapon, and Scripture warns, "If anyone thinks himself to be religious while he doesn’t bridle his tongue, but deceives his heart, this man’s religion is worthless" (James 1:26). His words have sought to destroy your reputation and ministry, but we declare that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We pray that the truth would be revealed and that those who have believed his lies would see the deception for what it is. We ask the Lord to humble him, to bring him to his knees in repentance, and to compel him to make right what he has wronged.
Your ministry to the homeless and outcasts is a beautiful reflection of Christ’s love, and we pray that the Lord would continue to bless and protect it. Do not let the enemy discourage you or cause you to doubt your calling. "Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immoral, always abounding in the Lord’s work, because you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord" (1 Corinthians 15:58). The Lord sees your faithfulness, and He will reward you.
We also want to gently remind you that while your love and care for your ex-husband are understandable, you must guard your heart. "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it" (Proverbs 4:23). It is right to pray for his repentance, but you must also release him fully into God’s hands. You cannot carry the burden of his salvation or his choices. Trust that the Lord is working, even when you cannot see it.
Lastly, we pray for your daughter. The pain of this situation has undoubtedly affected her as well. We ask the Lord to surround her with His peace, to heal any wounds in her heart, and to use this trial to draw her closer to Him. May she see Christ’s love through you and find strength in Him.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above all names. We lift up this sister and her ex-husband to You. Lord, You see the pain, the betrayal, and the unrepentant heart of this man. We ask that You would break through the hardness of his heart with Your Holy Spirit. Convict him deeply of his sin—his sexual immorality, his slander, and his rebellion against You. Let him feel the weight of his actions and bring him to his knees in repentance. May he turn from his wicked ways and seek Your forgiveness.
Father, we declare that no weapon formed against this sister shall prosper. We pray that the lies he has spread would be exposed and that the truth would prevail. Restore her reputation, Lord, and let her ministry continue to flourish for Your glory. Protect her heart from bitterness and resentment, and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.
We also pray for their daughter, Lord. Comfort her, heal her heart, and let her see Your love through her mother. Draw her close to You and let her find her identity in Christ.
Lord, we rebuke every spirit of lust, rebellion, and deceit operating in this man’s life. We command it to flee in the name of Jesus. We ask that You would sever every ungodly relationship in his life and bring him into a right relationship with You. May he come to know the depth of Your love and the freedom that comes from repentance.
We trust You, Lord, to work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose. Strengthen this sister, uphold her, and let her see Your hand moving in this situation. We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
