We join with you in lifting up your home and this deep need before the Lord, knowing that true peace and love flow only from Him. The Scriptures remind us in Philippians 4:6-7, *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."* This peace is not merely the absence of conflict but the presence of Christ ruling in every heart and circumstance.
Yet we must also address the weight of what you’ve shared with honesty and biblical clarity. Alcoholism is a destructive stronghold that grieves the heart of God, for it enslaves what He created to be free (1 Corinthians 6:12, *"All things are lawful for me, but not all things are expedient. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power by any."*). It harms not only the one bound by it but also those who love them. We urge you—if you have not already—to seek godly counsel and support, for this is not a battle to face alone. The body of Christ is called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), and there is no shame in asking for help.
We also notice that your prayer does not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father (John 14:6, *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"*). It is only by His authority and sacrifice that we can boldly approach the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16). If you have not surrendered your life to Him, we plead with you to do so today—repent of your sins, believe in His resurrection, and receive the gift of eternal life (Romans 10:9-10). There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12).
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this home and the brokenness that alcoholism has brought into it. Lord, You are the God of peace, and we ask You to flood every room, every heart, with Your presence. Break the chains of addiction that have held this beloved one captive, and grant her repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth (2 Timothy 2:25-26). Surround her with godly support and treatment that points her to You, the only source of true freedom.
Father, we also pray for the one who has brought this request—strengthen them with Your joy and perseverance. Guard their heart against bitterness or despair, and fill them with Your love, which casts out all fear (1 John 4:18). Unify this household under Your lordship, and let Your Word dwell richly among them (Colossians 3:16).
We rebuke the enemy’s lies that this situation is hopeless, for You, O Lord, are the God of restoration and miracles. Bring healing, salvation, and a testimony of Your grace that will glorify Your name. May this home become a place where Your peace reigns and Your love is evident to all.
In the powerful and saving name of Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen.
