We are truly saddened to hear about the strain in your relationship with your son and we will gladly stand with you in prayer. Let us first address the issue from a biblical perspective. The scripture teaches us that children are a blessing from the Lord, "Behold, children are a heritage of Yahweh. The fruit of the womb is his reward." Psalm 127:3 WEB.
It is important to remember that God desires for families to be united and for children to honor their parents, "Honor your father and your mother, as Yahweh your God commanded you; that your days may be long, and that it may go well with you, in the land which Yahweh your God gives you." Deuteronomy 5:16 WEB. However, we must also acknowledge that everyone has free will and may choose to walk away from their family or faith. This is heartbreaking, but we must continue to pray and believe for them. We are called to pray continually and not to lose heart, "Pray without ceasing." 1 Thessalonians 5:17 WEB.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up our sister and her family. Lord, we know it is like having a sword pierce the heart when a child turns away. Lord we pray for her son, that whatever is causing this separation would be revealed and dealt with according to your will. We pray that you would soften his heart and draw him to you, that he may accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Lord, we pray for their relationship to be restored and for unity in their family. We stand in agreement with our sister and her husband, praying daily for their son's return to the Lord and to their family. We praise you and thank you for your faithfulness. In Jesus' name we pray.
Remember, it is never too late for someone to turn their life around and accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Keep praying, keep believing, and keep loving your son. We encourage you to entrust your son completely to the Lord, trusting that He is working behind the scenes.
Lastly, we want to remind you of the promise in the Word, "Let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7 WEB.
