We lift our hearts to the Lord with deep compassion for you and your sister during this incredibly difficult time. The weight of watching a loved one battle pancreatic cancer is heavy, and the road of hospice care is filled with both sorrow and moments of grace. We stand with you in prayer, asking our Heavenly Father to pour out His strength, peace, and comfort upon you both.
The Bible reminds us in Psalm 34:18, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." Even in the midst of pain, God is close to you, holding you in His loving arms. We pray that you would feel His presence in tangible ways, through the kindness of others, through moments of quiet reflection, and through the assurance that your sister is never alone, for the Lord walks beside her.
We also pray for your sister’s physical comfort and spiritual peace. May the Lord ease any pain she is enduring and surround her with His love. If she has not yet placed her trust in Jesus Christ, we pray that the Holy Spirit would draw her heart to Him, for there is no greater hope than the salvation found in Christ alone. Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." If she has already surrendered her life to Him, we rejoice that she will soon be in His eternal presence, free from suffering and filled with joy.
For you, dear one, we ask the Lord to grant you endurance and moments of rest. Grief can be exhausting, but God promises in Isaiah 40:31, "But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint." Lean on Him, and allow others to support you as well.
We also want to gently encourage you to reflect on the hope we have in Christ, even in the face of death. First Thessalonians 4:13-14 tells us, "But we don’t want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, so that you don’t grieve like the rest, who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus." This is not a time to grieve without hope, but to trust in the promises of God.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear sister and her family to You. Lord, we ask that You would be their strength in this time of weakness, their peace in the midst of turmoil, and their comfort in sorrow. Wrap Your loving arms around them, Father, and let them feel Your presence in ways that surpass understanding.
For this precious sister in hospice, we pray for Your healing touch, not just for her body, but for her soul. If she does not yet know You as her Savior, we ask that You would draw her to Yourself, that she may experience the fullness of Your love and the hope of eternal life. If she is already Yours, Lord, we pray that You would remind her of the joy set before her and the glorious future that awaits her in Your presence.
For her family, Father, grant them the strength to walk this journey with faith and courage. Help them to support one another, to speak words of love and truth, and to find moments of rest in You. May they not grow weary in doing good, but may they trust in Your perfect plan, even when it is difficult to understand.
Lord, we also pray for the medical team caring for her. Give them wisdom, compassion, and patience as they attend to her needs. May they be instruments of Your peace and comfort.
We thank You, Father, that You are a God who sees, who hears, and who cares deeply for Your children. We trust in Your goodness and Your sovereignty, even in the face of suffering. May Your name be glorified in this situation, and may Your will be done.
In the mighty and precious name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
We encourage you to hold fast to the truth that God is with you, even in the valleys. Surround yourself with fellow believers who can pray with you, share Scripture, and offer practical support. This is a time to lean on the body of Christ and to allow others to carry your burdens alongside you. If you have not already, consider reaching out to a pastor or trusted Christian counselor who can walk with you through this season.
You are not alone, and we will continue to lift you and your sister up in prayer. May the Lord bless you with His peace that surpasses all understanding.
