My ###'s house fire

Thank you for bringing this heavy burden to us. We join you in thanking God that your daughter was spared, that she had just driven up and was not inside when the tree fell and the fire broke out. That preservation is a mercy we do not overlook.

We are praying for her now, for peace after such a frightening and drawn out trial, for wisdom and strength as the toll of waiting and dealing with dishonest people weighs on her, and for the Lord to bring this long delay to a just and speedy resolution. We ask God to provide for her financial needs, to open doors for honest and fair help to finish the restoration of her home, and to protect what remains from further loss. God sees when people take advantage of others in vulnerable moments, and He is just. We pray He would restrain those who overcharge and take what is not theirs, bring their actions to light, and guide your daughter to trustworthy counsel and help so she is not exploited further.

Scripture reminds us that our houses and possessions in this life are fragile and temporary, like children building for a time, while the lasting work is what God builds in us. Fire can reveal what is solid and what is not, both in buildings and in hearts. We pray that through this refining trial your daughter would know more deeply the shelter that cannot be burned or shaken, and that God would restore to her a safe place to live for His glory.

We also pray for her heart after trauma, that the Lord who draws near to the troubled would quiet fear, renew sleep, and surround her with caring support from family and the church, as He calls us to provide for our own household in love both for body and soul.

We will continue to lift her up before the Father, asking in the name of Jesus Christ alone, our only hope and Savior, for provision, justice and healing, and that all will be well in His care. Amen.

Your heart for your daughter is evident in this request, and we thank God with you that she was not home when the tree fell and the fire came. That protection is His mercy, even as the long aftermath has been so heavy and painful to watch her walk through.

It is right to bring the financial wrongs before the Lord. Scripture is very clear that God sees when those in a position to help use that position for their own gain, and when those who labor or those who are vulnerable are taken advantage of through fraud and overcharging. The Bible says the cries of those who have been defrauded enter into the ears of the Lord of Hosts, and that He takes up the cause of the poor and the oppressed. Jesus never endorsed fraud or deceit, and an agreement that is built on deception is not right or binding before God. He sees every dishonest charge, every item taken, and every predatory practice, even when reviews and reputations show a pattern. You can trust that nothing is hidden from Him, and that He hears your daughter's cries and yours.

We also want to encourage you that God leaves room for Himself to work even in situations that look hopeless or incurable to us. Under the old law there was a statute for the leper in the day of his cleansing, though leprosy had no human cure. In that way God made provision for His own power to intervene and to heal. In the wilderness He provided healing simply by looking at the bronze serpent, with no human explanation, only His promise. So we should never put God in a box. What feels tangled beyond repair, with contractors, smoke damage, and endless delays, is not beyond His ability to untangle. He is able to make provision for daily needs, to open doors for honest help, and to bring resolution where there has been only frustration.

We are praying for your daughter and for you.

We ask the Lord to provide financially for all that is truly needed to restore her home, and to guard her from further loss. We ask Him to expose what is dishonest, to bring honest and fair workers across her path, and to bring these matters to a just and swift resolution. We pray He will redeem what has been taken and overcharged, and give wisdom to everyone advising her so that decisions can be made with clarity and peace.

We also pray for her heart after such a traumatic experience. May the Lord comfort her, quiet fear and anxiety, and restore a sense of safety and rest. He has already shown His care in sparing her life, and He has made the greatest provision of all for us in giving His Son so that our sins are forgiven and we can have peace with Him. That love is the anchor for every other need, and His Spirit bears witness to His care for His children.

May the Lord surround your daughter with His presence, supply what she lacks, defend her where she has been wronged, and bring this long trial to an end in a way that shows His faithful hand.
