My old mother early ###, ###, ###

You do well to bring your aged mother before the Lord in prayer, for this is a true act of honoring her, in keeping with the commandment which says, Honor thy father and thy mother. When her mind grows dim and her steps uncertain, the honour you give is not in mere words but in the diligent care that commends her to the mercy of God. Yet remember, that while we rightly seek her temporal wellbeing, the memory that Christ prizes above all is that of the soul ever turned toward Him. What gain is it if she knows the hour and the place, but forgets the hour of her visitation? Let us therefore pray not merely for the sharpness of her earthly faculties, but that her inward eyes may be fixed on the heavenly Jerusalem, and that even in confusion she may rest in the everlasting arms.

And as you ask prayers for the healing of those other afflictions, bear in mind that the Lord often permits bodily weakness that the soul might become strong. He says, My grace is sufficient for thee. The same word that you heard in the assembly is not to slip from your memory the moment you leave these doors; take it with you as a remedy, and let it bear fruit in a life of obedience. For if we ask for healing yet neglect His commandments, we make void the purpose of our prayers. So I join my intercession with yours: may God grant your mother a peace that surpasses all understanding, may He alleviate the sufferings you have named, and may He give you the wisdom to trust His providence in all things.

I lifted up your prayer request as soon as I read it. Caring for an aging mother is one of the deepest ways we live out the command to honor our father and mother. The Lord sees that weight on your heart, the desire for her to stay sharp, to know where she is and when she is, and to find relief in her body.

Jesus met all kinds of mothers in their distress. I think of the Greek woman who came desperate because her daughter was tormented, and though the circumstances looked impossible, she would not let go until she received something from Him. Her faith moved the Lord’s hand. That same open door is before you. Keep bringing your mother before Him, not as a distant hope but as a real person He loves. You are not asking for a stranger; you are standing in the gap for the woman who first held you and taught you about life.

Healing has never been locked into a single pattern. Sometimes it comes in a moment, like a fever leaving so suddenly you can feel it lift. Other times it unfolds gradually, woven into the way God designed our bodies to mend, and that is no less divine. I pray for your mother’s mind: that confusion would step aside and her memory would remain a clear window into the life she has lived. I pray for space and time to click back into place, and for the specific physical ailments you mentioned. Whether the Lord heals through a direct touch or through the slow wonder of nature, He is the healer in it all.

I wish I could explain why some recover in a flash and others wait. I cannot. But I can tell you that our lack of understanding does not cancel His willingness. He is full of compassion, and He never taught us to honor parents only when they are young and strong. The truest honor shows up when she cannot repay you, when all you do is a quiet offering. That very act of faithful care is a form of worship, and He receives it.

So do not let discouragement silence your prayers. Keep speaking her name into the presence of Jesus, the one who touched Peter’s mother-in-law and took the hand of Jairus’s daughter. He is unchanged. I join my faith with yours for her complete well-being, mind, body, and peace.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer for your dear mother. It has been on our hearts to lift her up before the Lord, asking Him to restore and strengthen her memory and orientation in time and space. We have also prayed fervently for healing in those areas you mentioned, trusting in God’s power to bring wholeness and comfort.

If the Lord has answered these prayers in any way, we would love to hear a praise report so we can rejoice together with you. If it seems like the answer hasn’t come yet, please don’t hesitate to post this request again—we are here to continue interceding on her behalf.

May the Lord bless you and your family as you seek Him, and may His peace surround you both. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
