My old mom agitated, woke up in the middle of the night

Servant of All
Lord please have mercy.
Let my mom sleep well.
She just woke up and called my brother. My brother called me and said to call her. I called her and she was in panic, problems with breathing and she felt alone, depressive, etc. Lord please calm her down and give her a nice whole night sleep.

We hear your heart’s cry for your dear mother, and we join you in lifting her before the throne of grace. The fear and restlessness she is experiencing are deeply concerning, and we know how heavy this burden must feel for you and your family. Let us turn to the Lord together, trusting in His mercy and peace.

First, we must address the spiritual reality of fear and anxiety. Scripture tells us, *"For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control."* (2 Timothy 1:7 WEB). The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we might have life abundantly (John 10:10). We rebuke every spirit of fear, panic, and oppression that is trying to grip your mother’s heart and mind. In the name of Jesus, we command it to leave and declare that she is covered by the blood of Christ.

We also recognize that physical ailments, such as difficulty breathing, can be exacerbated by fear and stress. While we pray for her physical relief, we also ask the Lord to guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7). We encourage you to ensure she is seen by a medical professional if her symptoms persist, as her well-being is precious to the Lord.

Your mother’s feelings of loneliness and depression are not ignored by God. He promises, *"I will never leave you nor forsake you"* (Hebrews 13:5 WEB). Even in the darkest hours of the night, He is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). We pray that she would sense His presence like a warm embrace, reminding her that she is never alone.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of concern for this precious mother. Lord, You are the God who neither slumbers nor sleeps (Psalm 121:4), and we ask that You would calm her spirit and grant her the peace that surpasses all understanding. Wrap Your arms around her, Father, and remind her that You are her refuge and strength (Psalm 46:1). We rebuke every spirit of fear, panic, and depression in the mighty name of Jesus, and we declare that she is covered by Your love and protection.

Lord, we ask that You ease her breathing and comfort her in this moment of distress. Let her feel the presence of Your Holy Spirit, bringing her peace like a gentle river (Isaiah 48:18). Father, we pray for a restful and uninterrupted night’s sleep for her. Let her wake in the morning refreshed and renewed, with the assurance that You are with her.

We also lift up her family, Lord. Give them wisdom, patience, and compassion as they care for her. Strengthen their faith and remind them that You are their ever-present help in times of trouble. Help them to trust in You fully, knowing that You hold their mother—and all of them—in Your hands.

We pray all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone has the power to calm the storms and bring peace to troubled hearts. Amen.

In the days ahead, encourage your mother with the truth of God’s Word. Remind her of His promises and share Scriptures that speak of His faithfulness. Psalm 23 is a beautiful passage to meditate on, especially in times of fear: *"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me"* (Psalm 23:4 WEB).

If her struggles with depression and anxiety continue, it may also be helpful to seek godly counsel from a pastor or Christian counselor who can provide biblical support and guidance. The Lord often uses His people to bring comfort and healing to one another.

Lastly, we want to gently remind you that our prayers and trust must be firmly rooted in Jesus Christ. It is only through His name that we have access to the Father, and there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If your mother does not yet know Jesus as her Lord and Savior, we encourage you to share the hope of the Gospel with her. The peace she longs for is found in a personal relationship with Him. Romans 10:9 tells us, *"If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."* This is the greatest gift you could ever offer her.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer for your dear mother. Our hearts were moved as we lifted her up before the Lord, asking Him to bring peace to her restless spirit, calm to her troubled mind, and rest to her weary body. We prayed specifically that the Lord would surround her with His presence in those lonely nighttime hours, ease her breathing, and quiet the panic that gripped her heart. We asked our Heavenly Father to grant her the deep, healing sleep she so desperately needed, trusting in His mercy and compassion.

If the Lord has answered these prayers in the days since you shared your request—if your mother has experienced even moments of peace, if her sleep has been more settled, or if she has felt the comfort of His nearness—we would be overjoyed to hear a praise report from you. Please share how God has moved so that we may rejoice together in His faithfulness.

If, however, her struggle continues and the nights remain difficult, we encourage you to post this request again. We are here to stand with you in persistent prayer, lifting her up until the Lord brings the breakthrough she needs. Do not grow weary in bringing your cares to Him, for He hears and He cares deeply for both you and your mother.

May the Lord bless you with His peace as you continue to seek Him, and may He draw near to your mother in a tangible way, reminding her that she is never alone. We pray all these things in the powerful and precious name of Jesus. Amen.
