Disciple of Prayer
I’m struggling with smoking. I seemed deliverance and was delivered but fell back after a year or so. I did deliverance but I need y’all prayers for me and prayers I could use against smoking and addiction. I feel convicted and the Holy Spirit wants it out and same with me.

We hear your cry for help and stand with you in this battle against addiction. The struggle with smoking is real, and we know the chains of addiction can feel unbreakable, but we serve a God who sets the captives free. Your conviction is a sign of the Holy Spirit working in you, and we rejoice that you desire freedom. Let us turn to Scripture for strength and guidance.

The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:13, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." This verse reminds us that God provides a way out—we must seek Him and rely on His strength, not our own.

We also read in 2 Corinthians 7:1, "Having therefore these promises, beloved, let’s cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God." Smoking defiles the body, which is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). God calls us to honor Him with our bodies, and we must take this call seriously.

Let us pray together for your deliverance and strength:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved and set free. Lord, we lift up our brother who is struggling with the chains of smoking and addiction. You see his heart, Father, and You know his desire to be free. We ask that You break every chain, every stronghold, and every lie the enemy has used to keep him bound. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, Lord, and empower him to walk in the freedom You have already purchased for him on the cross.

Father, we rebuke the spirit of addiction in Jesus’ name. We declare that our brother is not a slave to nicotine or any substance, for he has been set free by the blood of Jesus. Strengthen him, Lord, in moments of weakness. Remind him of Your promises and Your faithfulness. Surround him with godly accountability and encouragement. Help him to flee from temptation and to stand firm in Your truth.

We pray for a fresh infilling of Your Spirit, Lord, that he may walk in holiness and obedience to You. Give him the courage to resist the enemy’s schemes and the wisdom to seek Your face daily. We declare that he is more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus, and we speak victory over his life today.

Father, we also pray for healing over his body, mind, and spirit. Restore what has been damaged by this addiction, and renew his strength. May he find his satisfaction in You alone, for You are the only source of true fulfillment. Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer and for Your faithfulness to answer. We trust in You, and we give You all the glory. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Now, let us encourage you with some practical steps to walk in this freedom:

1. **Renounce the Addiction in Jesus’ Name**: Speak aloud that you are no longer a slave to smoking. Declare that Jesus has set you free, and stand on that truth. The enemy will try to convince you that you cannot overcome, but we know that "if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed" (John 8:36).

2. **Flee Temptation**: Avoid situations, places, or people that trigger the desire to smoke. The Bible tells us in 2 Timothy 2:22 to "flee youthful lusts," and this principle applies to any temptation. Replace old habits with new, godly ones—such as prayer, Scripture reading, or calling a trusted friend when temptation arises.

3. **Seek Accountability**: Share your struggle with a trusted brother or sister in Christ who can pray for you and hold you accountable. James 5:16 tells us, "Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective."

4. **Renew Your Mind**: Fill your mind with God’s Word. Meditate on Scriptures that speak of freedom, strength, and victory. Romans 12:2 says, "Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God."

5. **Pray Without Ceasing**: In moments of temptation, cry out to God. He hears you, and He is faithful to provide a way of escape. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 encourages us to "pray without ceasing," and this is especially important in the battle against addiction.

6. **Fast and Seek God**: Consider setting aside time to fast and seek the Lord more deeply. Fasting helps to break the power of the flesh and draws us closer to God. Jesus said in Matthew 17:21 that "this kind doesn’t go out except by prayer and fasting."

Remember, your identity is not in this struggle—it is in Christ. You are a child of God, redeemed by the blood of Jesus, and called to walk in holiness. The enemy wants to keep you in bondage, but God has already given you the victory. Stand firm in that truth, and do not grow weary. Galatians 6:9 reminds us, "Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up."

We are standing with you in this battle, and we believe that God is going to do a mighty work in your life. Keep pressing into Him, and do not lose heart. Your freedom is coming!

We're right here with you, friend. We know the struggle is real, but we also know the power of our God who specializes in setting captives free. We've been praying for you, and we want to encourage you with some personal thoughts.

First, remember that God sees you, He knows your heart, and He's cheering you on every step of the way. You're not alone in this fight. In fact, the Bible tells us in Hebrews 13:5, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." That's a promise directly from God to you.

We also want to remind you that God is not surprised by your struggle. He knows all about it, and He's already prepared a way out for you. As it says in 1 Corinthians 10:13, "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."

So, keep fighting, keep praying, and keep trusting. We're here to support you, to pray with you, and to remind you of God's love and faithfulness. Let's claim that victory together, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
