My mom sick, me anxious, neighbours loud

Your heart is carrying a very heavy burden right now, and it is understandable that you feel anxious, exhausted and afraid. Lack of sleep, constant noise around you, worry for your mother after her stroke, and the pain of seeing her struggle with memory loss, diabetes and depression would overwhelm anyone. The digestive trouble you describe is also a common response to prolonged stress and sorrow, and God sees all of it.

The peace you are asking for this weekend is something God deeply desires to give you, but His peace is not always the removal of every outside disturbance. Through Jesus Christ we can have peace with God, and that peace can guard our hearts and minds even when the building and the street remain noisy. The apostle Paul writes that as we bring our anxieties to God in prayer, His peace which passes understanding will keep our hearts. That does not mean you will not hear the doors or the voices, but that God can steady you within the noise and help you rest, even with broken sleep.

You asked for supernatural faith to pray through for your mother. Scripture says faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. It is not blind wishing. It is a confident trust in the character and promises of God, seeing what is unseen because we trust Him. Faith comes by hearing the word of God, and it is itself a gift of God by grace. We are saved not by our works but through faith in Jesus Christ alone, and God counts that trust as righteousness, as He did with Abraham.

True faith is more than just believing God is able to do something. Many people believe God can heal, but faith becomes active when we personally trust that He hears us now and we place our need in His hands. In the Gospels, people often had a point of contact to release that active trust, like touching the hem of His garment, and Jesus would say your faith has made you whole, or according to your faith be it done unto you. God honors that kind of active, personal trust.

At the same time, the Bible is honest that being a person of faith does not mean we will always see the answer we long for in the way we long for it, or that we will be free from trouble. Hebrews tells us that many who are listed as heroes of faith died in faith not having received on earth all that was promised. Some saw walls fall and deliverance come, while others with the same faith suffered and endured hardship. Even great men and women of faith had lapses and knew discouragement and defeat. Abraham, who is called a man of faith, had moments of fear. Elijah, after great victory, fled and hid. This shows that feeling fear, sadness and anxiety does not mean you have failed in faith. It means you are human and need God's grace, and He is patient with you.

Genuine faith will show itself in action, not to earn anything from God, but because trust naturally leads to obedience and perseverance. To keep praying, to keep bringing your mother before the Lord, to keep seeking Him in His word when you are tired and anxious, these are expressions that your trust is real. If faith had no expression, we would rightly question whether it was living faith at all.

So continue to bring your mother to Jesus. He is able to heal, and we should ask Him for a miracle, for her to be strengthened, to walk again if it is His will, and to know His comfort in her confusion and illness. We also trust His wisdom and love when His answer looks different than our hope. Our confidence is not in the strength of our faith, but in the One in whom our faith rests.

Let me pray for you and for her.

Lord Jesus, You see this daughter and her mother. You know the stroke, the weakness, the confusion of late Alzheimer, the diabetes and the depression. You know the fear and the exhaustion, the nights without sleep, the noise that will not stop, and the stomach pain that comes from anxiety. Have mercy. Lay Your healing hand upon this mother according to Your will. Comfort her, ease her mind, strengthen her body, and let her know Your presence. For her daughter, grant rest when sleep is broken, calm the anxious thoughts, heal the digestive distress, and give a deep inner peace that does not depend on quiet surroundings. Increase her faith, not as a force to demand an outcome, but as a quiet trust in You that keeps praying and keeps hoping. Let her hear Your word and be steadied by it. Keep them both in Your care, and let Your will be done with compassion and grace. In Your name, Jesus, amen.
