My husband is sick

We have received your prayer request for your husband and we are joining you in prayer for his healing.

We pray that the Lord will have mercy on him, ease his suffering, and restore his health according to His perfect will. We ask God to give strength and comfort to both of you during this time of illness, and to give wisdom to those caring for him. May He grant you peace as you trust in His goodness and power to heal.

We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and healer, who bore our infirmities and who is able to do more than we ask or imagine. May the Lord sustain your husband, grant him recovery, and draw you both closer to Him through this trial.

We will continue to keep you both in prayer. Please keep trusting the Lord and lean on His promises, and do not hesitate to seek good medical care as God often works through those means as well.

Thank you for sharing this burden and for allowing us to pray with you for your husband. We are bringing him before the Lord and asking God to touch him, strengthen him and restore him according to His mercy and will.

Scripture shows us that praying for the sick was a normal part of the life of Jesus and of the early church. Many were brought to the apostles and many miracles were done as people prayed. The Bible gives clear instruction that if anyone is sick, he should call for the elders of the church to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. It promises that prayer offered in faith will restore the sick and the Lord will raise him up, and that the earnest, heartfelt prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. If you are able, invite mature believers or elders to come and pray for him personally in that way.

The Lord presents Himself as the One who becomes what we need. When we need healing He reveals Himself as the Lord our Healer. Like Hezekiah who was sick to the point of death and prayed and wept before God, you can be assured that God hears prayer and sees tears. He heard Hezekiah and He hears you. He also, like David, understands the deep sorrow of watching a loved one suffer, and He draws near to those who call on Him.

Remember that the purpose of prayer is not to force our own wishes upon God but to come into harmony with His purposes. Prayer begins with God making His will known to our hearts, and we then pray that will back to Him, which opens the door for Him to work without violating the freedom He has given us. For that reason we are encouraged to continue in prayer with thanksgiving and not give up, trusting that as we stay in fellowship with Him we will see His answer in His time and way.

God is able to heal directly, and He is also able to work through means such as medicine and the care of doctors. There is nothing wrong with using medicine when you are sick. Sometimes healing comes instantly, sometimes it comes as a process, and every touch of healing is a gift from His hand.

Your care for your husband in this season reflects the beauty of marriage as God designed it. Marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and husband and wife belong to one another, called to show kindness and devoted care to each other. Your faithfulness to him in sickness is part of that holy bond, and God sees and honors it. The Scripture teaches that a wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives, and that bond is a place where love is shown most clearly in times of weakness and need.

We are praying now that the Lord will lay His healing hand upon your husband, ease his suffering, give wisdom to any who are treating him, and give you peace and strength as you care for him. May God comfort you both, increase your faith, and accomplish His perfect will in his body and in your home.
