Your prayer for your family has been heard, and the heaviness you are carrying for your sons and your daughter is understood. A home filled with anger, disrespect toward a mother, and strife between siblings brings deep pain, and the fear of division in the house and the sense that the enemy is attacking those you love is a heavy burden.

Scripture shows that the peace you are asking for, a peaceful mind for your son and peace between your children, is something God Himself wants to give, but it comes in His way. The Lord says He will not always be angry, and He calls out peace, peace to him that is far off and to him that is near, and says I will heal him. Jesus Christ Himself is our peace. He has broken down the wall between us and God, and through Him God offers forgiveness, healing and restoration. When we have peace with God through faith in Jesus, then we can know the peace of God that guards our hearts and minds and passes all understanding. In the Bible grace always comes before peace, because we cannot know the keeping peace of God until we have first received the grace of God through His only begotten Son.

That is why the Bible also warns there is no peace to the wicked. A life that continues forward in the way of its own heart, in anger and rebellion and rudeness, is described like the troubled sea that cannot rest. There cannot be peace while we hold on to the very attitudes that separate us from God. Your son needs more than a calmer mood, he needs a changed heart. Like the son who left his father and wasted his inheritance, he needs to come to himself and say I have sinned and return to the Father. When that younger son returned, his father did not receive him as a slave but as a son, putting the best robe on him, a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet, for only sons are given shoes. The father said this my son was dead and is alive again. God sent His Son, born under the law, so that we who were under the law might receive adoption as sons. Jesus is the only begotten Son, we become sons by adoption through Him, born again by the Spirit. That adoption brings a new identity and a new way of living.

God also shows His love as a Father who disciplines every son He receives. His correction is not pleasant, but it proves we belong to Him, for a father does not discipline a stranger's child but his own. If your son is being confronted about his disrespect, that very conviction can be God working to bring him to repentance so he will see his rudeness for what it is and turn from it.

God's thoughts toward you are thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you hope in the end. He tells His people to seek the peace of the place where He has placed them and to pray for it, for in that peace they will find peace. So continue to pray for the peace of your household, that the Lord would lift up His countenance upon each of you and give you peace. Pray that your sons and your daughter would each be reconciled to God through Jesus Christ, for only then can they be truly reconciled to each other, honoring you as their mother as God commands and living together in love rather than irritation and anger.

Let us pray together. Father, we come through Jesus Christ Your Son. We ask for Your mercy and peace upon this family. Heal the troubled mind and take away the anger that controls this son. Bring him to see his disrespect and rudeness, grant him repentance and a humble heart that honors his mother and loves his siblings. Bring peace between brother and sister, remove strife and guard this home from the attacks of the enemy. Give this mother wisdom and strength, and give her daughter a heart of both truth and grace. Let each one in this family first have peace with You through faith in Jesus, and then know the quiet peace of God that keeps the heart. Restore what has been broken and let this family know the blessing that belongs to Your children who are in Christ Jesus. In Jesus name, Amen.
