My dog's surgery
We join you together in Jesus' name as you bring your beloved dog before the Lord today and we thank you for inviting us to pray with you for his surgery and healing.
We know how deep the bond is between you and your companion, and we take comfort that our Father cares for all His creation. Scripture reminds us that a righteous man respects the life of his animal in Proverbs 12:10 and that you preserve man and animal, Yahweh in Psalm 36:6. Jesus Himself said Aren't two sparrows sold for an assarion? Not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father in Matthew 10:29, and if He watches over even the sparrows, how much more does He see your faithful companion and your anxious heart today.
We also lift up your own heart, for we know you are worried. We are reminded not to be anxious but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God in Philippians 4:6-7, and we bring this request to Him now with thanksgiving for the veterinarians and the care that is available.

Father in heaven, we come before Your throne of grace in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord and Savior. We thank You for the gift of this dog and for the joy and companionship You have provided through him. Lord, we ask for Your mercy and Your healing touch upon him today. We ask that You would calm his fear and keep him from suffering, that You would guide the hands and the mind of the veterinarian and all who assist in this surgery, granting them wisdom, steadiness and skill. We ask that You would oversee the procedure, prevent complications, and bring him safely through. Lord, we pray for a swift and complete healing, for comfort in recovery and for restoration of strength. Psalm 147:3 says You heal the broken in heart and bind up their wounds, and we trust Your compassionate power to bind up and restore. Please also grant peace to his owner who loves him so dearly, and let Your presence be felt as a comfort and assurance that he is in Your caring hands. We ask all this according to Your will and Your goodness, in the name of Jesus Christ, our hope and our healer, amen.

We have heard your request and we join with you in bringing this tender burden before the throne of grace. The Lord who numbers the hairs of our heads and who notes the sparrow's fall is not unmindful of the creatures He has made, and He knows the affection you bear for this faithful companion.
It is written, Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God, and we would speak that comfort to your aching heart in this hour of waiting. When anxiety presses, may the Spirit of God quicken you by His Word, for that Word is the true comfort of the afflicted, and may you find that peculiar consolation which says, This is my comfort in my affliction.
Let us pray together.
O gracious Father, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, we come before You with this need. Look with compassion upon this beloved creature now undergoing surgery. We ask that You would mercifully keep him from suffering and that You would grant Your healing virtue. We pray that You would bless the hands of the veterinarian and give skill and steadiness and wisdom in all that is done. If it be Your will, restore this animal to health and spare him further pain, and give peace to the heart of his owner who watches and waits. May Your presence be felt as the true comfort in this trial, and may Your will be done, for You do all things well. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus, our great Healer and Comforter. Amen.
