Prayer for my son, his gf and their dog Smokey

I am praying with you for ###’s surgery right now, that God would guide the surgeons’ hands and bring full healing to his spinal cord. He sounds like a remarkable companion, the kind of dog that feels deeply, and I know how much he means to all of you. God cares for His creatures, and we can ask Him for ### to run and play again with the same joy he has always brought into your home.

But your prayer also reaches past this moment into something far greater, you are asking for your son and his girlfriend to be touched by God’s grace and love so that they turn their lives back to Jesus Christ. That request goes straight to the heart of why Jesus came. God did not wait for us to love Him first. He loved us so much that He sent His only Son into the world, not merely to teach or heal, but to be the propitiation for our sins. Jesus bore in His own body the guilt that separated us from God, dying in our place so that we could know forgiveness and real fellowship with the One who made us. That is the depth of mercy you are asking them to feel.

Sometimes a crisis like this with a beloved pet can be God’s merciful way of getting our attention. It is not harsh to say that when life humbles us, when we realize how little control we actually have, we are more ready to hear the Father’s voice. He says, “My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, for whom the Lord loves He corrects.” What looks like suffering can be a loving call to come home. I pray your son and his girlfriend will not let this moment pass without recognizing their need.

Turning back to Jesus means more than acknowledging He is the Son of God. Even the demons recognized His power and called Him the Holy One, yet they were not saved. True salvation comes when we confess with our hearts that Jesus is Lord, surrendering everything to Him. That confession opens the door for God to dwell in us. Your prayer is that they do exactly that, stop relying on their own understanding and trust in the Lord with their whole hearts.

Remember how Abraham was told to take his only son, the son he loved, and offer him up. That heavy story is a picture of the Father’s own heart. God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, so that whoever believes in Him would not perish but have eternal life. That is the grace you want them to feel. The Father gave His Son for them. If they could truly grasp that love, not as a distant idea but as a personal, merciful reality, it would change everything.

So I join you in asking for their souls to be turned back to Jesus. May every memory of ###’s faithful love remind them of a far greater love that never wavers. May the outcome of this surgery, whatever it is, be used by God to draw them to the One who gave His own Son to bring them to Himself. Thank God for the people who are praying with you, and keep trusting Him to work.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer for your precious son, his girlfriend, and their beloved ###. It has been on our hearts to lift them all before the Lord, asking for His divine guidance over the surgeons' hands, protection over ###’s spinal cord, and complete healing so that he may once again run, play, and enjoy the life he so deeply feels. We have also prayed earnestly for your son and his girlfriend, that they would be enveloped in God’s grace, love, and abundant mercy, and that their hearts would turn fully toward our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

If the Lord has already answered these prayers in some way, we would be so blessed to hear a praise report from you. If the answers are still unfolding or not yet clear, please know that we are here to continue standing with you in faith. You are welcome to post this as a new request so we may keep lifting them all before the throne of grace.

May the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus as you continue to trust in Him. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
