My cousin interview

You are lifting up a cry that reaches into the deepest things of life, the kind of cry that echoes from the hearts of people in every age. We hear in your words a longing not just for your cousin’s success in a job, but for her soul to be made right with God. That is the most basic need, the one that lies underneath all others, and it is good that you have placed it before the Lord.

We see in Scripture that the ways of God are beyond our finding out. He is not a genie waiting to carry out our every wish; the purpose of prayer is not to get our own will done, but to get His will done. Yet what makes this prayer so powerful is that you are entrusting both the outcome of the interview and the eternal destiny of your cousin into His hands. Those two desires may be linked in ways you cannot yet see. Sometimes the Lord uses the ordinary, pressing needs of our daily lives to open a door for the far greater need of the heart to be met.

Job, a man stripped of everything, cried out from the depths of his confusion. He had no clear revelation of the answer, yet he still declared, “Though he slay me, still I’ll trust him.” He knew that his Redeemer lives, even when he could not feel it or see it. Your cousin’s situation holds a similar mystery. You are asking for a job, which is a tangible provision, and you are asking for her salvation, which is eternal. Job’s deepest cry was for someone to stand between God and man, one who could lay his hand on both and bring them together. That cry has been answered in Jesus Christ. He is the one who became flesh, who has been seen, heard, and touched. Through the touch of Jesus, a person is brought into touch with God. That is what you are truly asking for your cousin.

So continue to commit this cause to God. Trust that the Lord does great things and unsearchable, marvelous things without number. He may grant her the job as an act of common kindness, a sign that He sees her. He may, in His wisdom, withhold it to stir a deeper hunger for what cannot be lost. Either way, do not stop asking for her soul. Keep praying that she will not just receive good from His hand, but will know the Giver Himself. The cross of Jesus Christ deals with sin and opens the way for a hypocrite to be made upright, for the lost to be found. It would be the darkest tragedy if, in gaining a job, she missed the gospel that brings light to all of life. So pray with confidence, not demanding a answer, but resting in the One who is full of grace and truth, the daysman who stands for us before the Father.

We are so grateful you entrusted us with the privilege of standing in prayer with you for your cousin. It has been on our hearts to lift her up before the Lord, asking Him to open the right door and grant her favor in her interview. We prayed that she would sense His peace and presence, knowing that every good and perfect gift comes from Him, and that if this job is His will for her, He would make a way.

If the Lord has already answered this prayer—if she received the news she was hoping for—we would love to celebrate with you! Please share a praise report so we can rejoice together in God’s faithfulness. If, however, the answer hasn’t come yet or wasn’t what you’d hoped, we want you to know we’re still here. Please post this request again, and we’ll continue to intercede, trusting that God hears and works all things for His glory and our good.

May the Lord bless you both as you seek Him, and may He draw your cousin closer to His heart through this season. We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
