Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for my younger daughter to make good choices and to learn and value money. Please let her learn to refrain from wanting to spend so much money as it’s causing my financial hardship and I have a hard time saying no. Please pray for me to become stronger and for her to learn and value hard earned money so that she can think about the costs and save money as she gets it. Please pray for my high school daughters self confidence and self esteem and motivation for college and extracurricular activities. Please pray good friends come into her life and that she sees herself as beautiful and let a nice boyfriend come into her life so she can experience love and happiness and someone who makes her feel beautiful and happy Please pray for my son - please pray he finds a good soccer team that appreciates him, let him excel in music, please let him not stress, please let him grow taller like his friends and continue with good friends and confidence

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your precious children and the concerns you have shared. Father, we thank You for the gift of these young lives and the love this parent has for them. We ask that You would move powerfully in each of their lives according to Your perfect will.

For your younger daughter, we pray that You would instill in her a deep understanding of the value of money and the importance of stewardship. Lord, Your Word tells us in Proverbs 22:7 that "the borrower is servant to the lender," and we ask that You would help her to grasp the wisdom of living within one’s means. Teach her the joy of saving and the satisfaction of delayed gratification, as it says in Proverbs 13:11, "Wealth gained dishonestly dwindles away, but he who gathers by hand makes it grow." Strengthen this parent to stand firm in wisdom, trusting that discipline and boundaries are acts of love. May this daughter grow to honor her parents and respect the hard work that provides for her needs.

For your high school daughter, we pray for a renewal of her self-confidence and self-esteem. Lord, remind her that she is fearfully and wonderfully made in Your image (Psalm 139:14), and that her worth is found in You alone, not in the opinions of others. We ask that You would surround her with godly friends who will encourage and uplift her, as Proverbs 13:20 says, "Walk with wise men and you’ll become wise, but the companion of fools suffers harm." Father, we also lift up her desire for a boyfriend, but we must rebuke the idea of seeking a relationship that does not align with Your design. We pray that if it is Your will, You would bring a godly young man into her life, one who loves You first and who will honor her as a sister in Christ. Until then, may she find her identity, security, and joy in You alone. Help her to pursue her education and extracurricular activities with diligence and passion, knowing that her future is in Your hands.

For your son, we pray that You would open doors for him to find a soccer team where he is valued and encouraged. May he grow in skill and confidence, using the talents You have given him for Your glory. We also ask that You would bless his musical abilities, that he may use them to worship You and bring joy to others. Lord, we know that growth in stature is in Your hands, as it says in Luke 2:52, "Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men." We pray that he would trust in Your timing and not compare himself to others. Surround him with good friends who will sharpen him, as iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17), and fill him with peace as he navigates the challenges of life.

Father, we must also address the need for salvation in this family. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to You, and there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If this family does not know You as Lord and Savior, we pray that You would draw them to Yourself. Help them to understand that Jesus died for their sins and rose again, offering eternal life to all who believe (John 3:16). May they surrender their lives to Him and find true peace, purpose, and joy in Your presence.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We’re struck by how much love you carry for each of your children, and we join you in lifting them to God right now.

The financial strain you described with your younger daughter feels especially heavy, so let’s start there. It’s hard to say no when you want to give, but learning to hold a loving boundary is one of the most practical ways you can teach her the value of money. You might try a calm, simple conversation: pick one regular expense she asks for and give her a small, set amount to manage on her own each week. When it’s gone, it’s gone. That lets real-life consequences do the teaching, which often sinks in more than words. Meanwhile, if the hardship runs deep, consider meeting with a trusted financial counselor or a church-based budgeting ministry, not as a failure, but as wise support.

For your high school daughter, we hear your ache for her to feel beautiful, confident, and motivated. Real confidence usually grows when we take on something hard and see it through, a project, a skill, a way of serving others, not just from hearing we’re pretty or loved. Maybe a gentle step is to ask her what one thing she’d enjoy working toward this season, whether a club, a class, or a creative outlet, and then cheer her on as she sticks with it. We’ll pray for good friends who encourage her, and for any future relationship to come in God’s right time, not as a fix for loneliness but as a natural outgrowth of a whole, secure life.

And your son, we’re praying he finds a team and a music environment where he feels truly seen, and that the stress eases as he discovers he is more than his height or any single performance. You can reinforce that his worth is already settled, not up for comparison.

Father, thank you for this family and for a parent who cares so deeply. Give wisdom and courage to set healthy money boundaries in the home, and help the younger daughter grow in understanding the cost of things and the value of what is earned. Draw both daughters into deep, sustaining friendships, and anchor their confidence in who they are in Christ, not in appearances or whether they have a boyfriend. We ask for a good soccer team for their son, for him to flourish in music, and for him to rest easy about things he cannot control. Calm all their hearts and provide for each need as only you can. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

How often a parent’s heart aches under the burden of a child’s desires, and how often that ache is but the echo of a deeper need, a need for the soul to rest in God alone. You speak of your daughter’s spending, of your own weakness in saying no, and of the hardship it brings. Yet this is not first a matter of money, but of the heart. A soul that is not weaned will always cry for more; a soul that is not content will always exhaust what is given. The weaned child no longer frets, it has left its little desires with God. Pray, then, not merely that she learn the cost of coins, but that she learn the cost of sin and the priceless gift of Christ. True riches are found when we know Him who is the faithful saying: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. If she gains that treasure, she will hold money loosely and value what cannot be spent.

But while you pray for her, pray also for yourself. You say you find it hard to refuse. Remember, to say “no” may be the truest love, for a house built on the sand of indulgence cannot stand. There is a hope that is no hope, the hope that satisfying every wish will bring peace. It will not. It cannot. Lay your little ones before the Lord and leave them there. He has said, “I will never leave you, nor forsake you.” That promise is your bank stock in heaven; let it be your strength when you must stand firm.

As for your elder daughter, I hear the cry of a mother who longs to see her child know love and see her own beauty. But what will that new boyfriend do if she has not first been found by Christ? What will a circle of good friends avail if she does not know the Friend of sinners? Her confidence must be built upon something deeper than the shifting sands of praise or affection, upon the rock of hearing Christ’s words and doing them. There is no remission of sin, no lasting self-worth, apart from the shedding of His blood. Tell her, then, that she is beautiful not in the mirror of the world, but as one for whom Christ died. When she sees herself as lost, and Him as Savior, she will have a hope that will not fail her in the storms of life.

And your son, how you long to see him excel, yet not stress. How you wish he would grow taller, keep good friends, and find a team that values him. These are small things to the Lord, yet He stoops to hear about them all. The child of God, when grace has done its work, can truly say, “My soul is even as a weaned child.” He can leave these worries with his Father. If his confidence is in Christ, he will not be shaken, whether he grows or stays small, whether he shines on the field or not. The most dangerous thing for a young beginner is to have no depth of spiritual root. Pray that he, and all your children, would not merely say “I go, sir,” but actually go into the vineyard of true faith. A religion of show will not bear the tempest.

You have asked for many things, and I do not reproach you for it, a mother’s love is a sweet and urgent thing. But let me gently turn your eyes to the one thing needful. If your children knew the gift of God, they would thirst no more. He is the fountain that never runs dry. There is no shortage of supply, no reluctance in His heart. Come, then, as you are, bringing all these cares, and cast them at the feet of Jesus. He saves sinners, even the chief, and He alone can give your children what no money, no companion, no height, no success can ever provide. May you and they learn to live in God, dwell in God, and then these burdens will grow strangely light.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You pour out your heart for your children, seeking their good, yet your anxiety reveals where your treasure lies. You chase after money, friendships, stature, and the favor of men as though these were the sum of happiness. But did you not notice? When we lose a sum of money or a child goes missing, we leave no land or sea unsearched; we spare no expense, we hold nothing back. Should we not seek God with even greater determination? Yet you ask for coins to be spent wisely while squandering the pearl of great price. Teach your younger daughter to value money, yes, but first teach her to thirst for the living God. The soul that learns to refrain from needless spending has gained little if it remains a spendthrift of grace.

You say you have a hard time saying no, and you ask to become stronger. That is well, for a parent who never denies a child’s desire does that child no kindness. Honor puffs up the careless; a little hardship, a refusal, a well-timed indignity, these train the soul in self-command. By always providing what she craves, you wound her. It is the one who is denied, who is taught to bear disappointment, who grows steadfast. Do not fear her tears. You are not her enemy when you say no; you are her true physician, cutting away the cancer of self-indulgence. The same holds for your older daughter. You long for her to feel beautiful and to find love. But what is beauty? A fading flower. And what is a boyfriend if he does not lead her nearer to Christ? Instead of praying for a young man to make her feel happy, pray that she may find her worth in being a handmaid of the Lord, that she may seek a husband who fears God. Do you not know that marriage is a mystery, one flesh, revealing Christ and the Church? Then let her not squander her affections on vanity but prepare her soul for that holy union.

And for your son: you want him to grow taller, to find the right team, to escape stress. Such small things consume you! Who added a cubit to his stature by worrying? God distributes His gifts as He wills. Are you wiser than Moses, who shrank from the burden and was given helpers? Do not demand an account from the Master. Your son’s height, his soccer team, his music, these are not where his true life lies. Pray rather that he learns to serve, as Timothy served Paul, without grumbling, in subjection to what is good. Let him discover the confidence that comes from a clean conscience, not from standing among peers.

Cast not away your confidence toward God. You have a great reward laid up in heaven. But you will never taste that reward if you persist in clutching at earthly trifles. Your children do not need more money, more friends, or more accomplishments; they need to see in you a soul so anchored in Christ that the waves of this world do not shake it. When you stop fearing their disappointments, they will stop being mastered by them. Teach them by your own example to own nothing as their own, to give even their coat and their cloak, to bless when insulted, to bear hardship. Then, whether they have much or little, they will possess all things.

Do not burden yourself with a thousand cares about their future. Pray for their salvation. Fast. Give alms. Speak to them of the fleeting nature of youth and the eternal weight of glory. When you see your daughter longing for expensive things, do not just pray; tell her plainly, with love, that the moth and rust corrupt such treasures. When your son frets over his growth, remind him that the body is sown in corruption, but the soul raised in incorruption. The friends they need are the ones who will edify them, who will speak truth, who will not flatter. Beseech God for such companions, and even more, that your children themselves may become such a friend to others.

I do not say this to mock your anxieties, for I also am weak. But I know that the only cure for the fever of earthly desire is the love of things above. Look at the Apostle Paul, who wrote with his own hand to reconcile a runaway slave, pledging his own resources, his very self, for the sake of one soul. He refused nothing. You, too, must spend yourself for your children’s souls, but not by giving them everything they crave. Spend yourself in prayer, in patient instruction, in the labor of setting a holy example. Then, even if they have little of this world’s goods, they will be rich toward God, and your own heart will find rest.

The weight you are carrying right now is heavy, and it touches on something deeper than just your daughter’s spending or your son’s growth. When financial strain hits and you feel you cannot say no, a kind of guilt begins to settle in. You may even feel a subconscious pull toward some kind of punishment, as if hardship could atone for what you perceive as a lack of strength. But that cycle only spins you around again, from frustration to guilt to a desire for punishment, and then right back to the same frustration.

What your heart truly longs for is freedom from that guilt, not just a temporary covering. The good news is that there is a way to be fully exonerated. Jesus Christ took all of that guilt upon Himself and paid the penalty for it on the cross. Through faith in Him, you stand justified, completely forgiven. That haunting sense of not being enough as a parent, of having failed, can be erased by His finished work. You do not need to punish yourself with constant worry; He has already made atonement, bringing you back to one with God.

With that freedom, you can find the strength to set boundaries for your younger daughter. Saying no may feel harsh, but it is actually one of the healthiest things you can do for her. It helps lift the guilt from you both. When a child learns there is a limit, and that crossing it is met with loving correction, it clears the air. She can feel free from a secret guilt over her own desires because the consequence has been met. This is not about damaging her spirit; it is about teaching her the value of what is earned and the wisdom in restraint.

For your older daughter, her desire for love and acceptance is so deep. She longs to feel beautiful and to know happiness through a boyfriend and good friends. But her true security cannot rest on that. The full exoneration of her worth is already settled in Christ. He sees her as beautiful because she is made in His image, and no human affection can provide the foundation that His love does. Pray that she finds her confidence there first. When her self-esteem is rooted in being justified before God, she will have the motivation to pursue college and activities not from a place of lack, but from a place of wholeness.

Your son’s concerns about his height and his stress remind me that we often only see the present hardship. We rarely understand God’s purposes in the middle of temporary pain or waiting. But those very times of not having everything we want, or watching others get what we lack, can become the classroom where we learn to trust God most intimately. When provision comes easily, the miracle-working power of God might remain a theory. When we feel almost broke or overlooked, He becomes undeniably real. His growth and confidence will ultimately be formed more by seeing God’s faithfulness in these small stresses than by any few added inches.

Finally, remember that your financial giving or scrimping is not a frantic attempt to help God avoid a crisis. He is not in trouble, and His work does not depend on your ability to prevent hardship. Your sacrifices are for your own benefit, to restore a deep, heartfelt fellowship with Him. He has already provided the ultimate covering for guilt through Jesus. Rest in that, and then from that rest, you will find the clarity to guide your children with grace and the strength to set the boundaries they truly need.
