My cat comes back

It is good to hear that your cat has returned safely. Life, even in a small creature, is precious, and you have now seen her come back home.

You ended by invoking the blood of Jesus, and that is no small thing. Scripture teaches that the life of the flesh is in the blood, and God has always taught us to regard blood with deep reverence. How much more, then, should we hold the blood of Jesus Christ in the highest honor? It is not a phrase to be thrown around lightly or mixed with any other name. The blood of Christ is what atones for sin. Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission, and that is exactly why He shed His. He entered into the presence of God not with the blood of animals, but with His own blood, making a way for us to be cleansed.

When you feel that turmoil, remember that your access to the Father is through that perfect sacrifice. You do not need to shout down the enemy as if you lack authority. The blood of Jesus has already secured the victory. It speaks better things than any cry of accusation or fear. Because of His blood, you do not approach God from a distance. You can come boldly to the throne of grace to find mercy and help in your time of need. That is a beautiful, settled reality.

The Scripture also records that Jesus came by water and blood. When He died, the blood and water that flowed testified to His complete sacrifice. He died of a broken heart for the sins of the world. And it is that very blood which cleanses us from all sin. The effect of sin is always separation, but the blood of the new covenant closes that distance. He is the good shepherd who goes out to seek and to save what was lost. The natural response in heaven to anything lost being found is joy, not further chaos.

So rest in this. You do not need to rage or command. The battle belongs to the Lord. The blood of Jesus has already been shed; it has already been accepted in the heavenly sanctuary. Because He is our high priest forever, holy and undefiled, His one offering has sanctified us once for all. Stand firm in that, with a heart of reverence, not a heart of turmoil. Give thanks that your cat is home, and let your own heart find its home in the peace that the blood of Christ has purchased. He has made the way open. Enter into that rest.
