Humble Servant of All
First, I have a functional movement disorder, which is a real physical ailment, not psychosomatic. It's akin to if the hardware on your computer is okay, but the software malfunctions. My left jaw moves uncontrollably, causing severe pain and disrupting sleep. I've had it since the end of 2017, eight years or so. I did an eight-week program that didn't help. The movement goes away only when I do the deep breathing or whatever else. My other alternatives stink: If they botox my jaw, it could cause facial droop -- even if it didn't happen the first time, I would be periodically running this risk for the rest of my life. Medication, the other option, is even worse. I already tried a few drugs. They knocked me out. One of the drug options also carries a black box warning for Parkinson's disease. Please in Jesus's name pray for my deliverance from this ailment. It's horrendous! It's even caused me to have TMJ. Next up: In January 2026, I finally caved in to VA's calls and went in for a lung cancer screening CT. I have COPD but have not smoked in 18 years, quit long before COPD dx. Anyway, CT scan showed a 6.4-mm irregular nodule in my left upper lung lobe. This finding led to a PET scan 66 days later in May of 2026. The nodule lit up with SUV max of 1.1 so VA wanted me to get a biopsy. I noted the nodule didn't grow at all and told my outside-VA pulmonologist I was more afraid of a collapsed lung from the biopsy than that I actually had cancer. He looked at the PET scan and said he was not impressed for cancer because the SUV max was so low. However, he did send me to a pulmonary sub-specialist who looked at all my outside-VA CT scans plus the PET scan. The sub-specialist offered me either biopsy or another CT scan. I opted for another CT scan. The results were no findings concerning for cancer and scarring in left upper lobe. This is exactly what I thought from the beginning-- I had a severe simultaneous COPD and GERD flare in December 2025 that left me with a granuloma that turned into a scar. The PET scan caught it as the inflammation was going on but dying down. Scar also explains the irregular shape. I was so relieved. Then the sub-specialist called. He said he wasn't happy with the reading because he wanted a measurement of the nodule. He had his radiologist look at the latest CT. A week later, I got a call-back from the sub-specialist's PA. Apparently even though this nodule -- that I believe is actually a scar -- still didn't grow at all, the sub-specialist still wants to do a biopsy because it didn't shrink or go away. I was offered the option of another CT scan in three months or else go to biopsy. If I do the biopsy, the chance of a collapsed lung is still there but much lower than if VA did it because the pulmonary sub-specialist does it with GPS guidance. The issue here is there's still a slight risk. I could end up intubated and in a hospital. If that isn't bad enough, I am trying desperately to get TIF surgery with hernia repair, have been waiting for months. The hold-up now is the TIF surgeon is out of BRAVO capsules, which makes me angry because in my view, he should have ordered the BRAVO testing a full six months ago. I am really suffering and it looks like the omeprazole I've been taking for my GERD/LPR is affecting my kidney function. I was told by the hernia surgeon if I get TIF with hernia repair, my sore throats will go away, and I won't need omeprazole any more. Anyway, please pray in Jesus's name that I get the BRAV0, get positive result to satisfy the insurance company and get highly successful TIF with hernia repair. Please also pray for an end to horrific nasal symptoms I have that I believe are associated with reflux. Please pray in Jesus's name I make the right decision as to whether or not to go back to ENT. My main objection is I feel my surgeries have been stalled and jerked around for so long, I don't want another doctor to make money off me unless it's to actually fix the problem. Finally in this regard, there's even more: I asked the hernia surgeon if my pain and discomfort wearing bras has anything to do with my hernia. He said, "No," and to my shock, he referred me to a plastic surgeon for breast reduction. I'm 67 years old. I was always big on top but after menopause, I got even bigger. I've lost over a thousand dollars in a year trying different bra brands and I'm holed up in my apartment alot of the time because I won't go braless in public. In addition, I have become so self-conscious, I take pictures wearing shawls and refuse to be photographed from the side. Anyway, the plastic surgeon I went to was very nice. He explained the overly large breasts are even affecting my posture. He put in the paperwork for the breast reduction. He thinks I could get the surgery in November. Anyway, please pray in Jesus's name I am making the right decision here. Please pray if I do get the surgery, I am happy with the result. Finally, please pray in Jesus's name for positive outcomes in ALL of this. I'm so tired of suffering and suffering. I feel the unnecessary delay in scheduling my TIF with hernia repair has caused a bottleneck in my care. [I read there was a recall in BRAVO capsules due to a problem with the adhesive so it may be a blessing in disguise, but still -- I was told eight weeks ago by the TIF surgeon the BRAVO capsules would be in in two weeks.] Also please pray in Jesus's name for an increase in my pulmonary function on my upcoming test, over and above my last one and for a productive conversation with my pulmonologist about biopsy v. another CT scan. I am leaning towards another CT scan because I don't want my surgeries delayed any more than they already have been. Thank you for praying.
