MULTIPLE PROBLEMS

Leah B.

Humble Servant of All
First, I have a functional movement disorder, which is a real physical ailment, not psychosomatic. It's akin to if the hardware on your computer is okay, but the software malfunctions. My left jaw moves uncontrollably, causing severe pain and disrupting sleep. I've had it since the end of 2017, eight years or so. I did an eight-week program that didn't help. The movement goes away only when I do the deep breathing or whatever else. My other alternatives stink: If they botox my jaw, it could cause facial droop -- even if it didn't happen the first time, I would be periodically running this risk for the rest of my life. Medication, the other option, is even worse. I already tried a few drugs. They knocked me out. One of the drug options also carries a black box warning for Parkinson's disease. Please in Jesus's name pray for my deliverance from this ailment. It's horrendous! It's even caused me to have TMJ. Next up: In January 2026, I finally caved in to VA's calls and went in for a lung cancer screening CT. I have COPD but have not smoked in 18 years, quit long before COPD dx. Anyway, CT scan showed a 6.4-mm irregular nodule in my left upper lung lobe. This finding led to a PET scan 66 days later in May of 2026. The nodule lit up with SUV max of 1.1 so VA wanted me to get a biopsy. I noted the nodule didn't grow at all and told my outside-VA pulmonologist I was more afraid of a collapsed lung from the biopsy than that I actually had cancer. He looked at the PET scan and said he was not impressed for cancer because the SUV max was so low. However, he did send me to a pulmonary sub-specialist who looked at all my outside-VA CT scans plus the PET scan. The sub-specialist offered me either biopsy or another CT scan. I opted for another CT scan. The results were no findings concerning for cancer and scarring in left upper lobe. This is exactly what I thought from the beginning-- I had a severe simultaneous COPD and GERD flare in December 2025 that left me with a granuloma that turned into a scar. The PET scan caught it as the inflammation was going on but dying down. Scar also explains the irregular shape. I was so relieved. Then the sub-specialist called. He said he wasn't happy with the reading because he wanted a measurement of the nodule. He had his radiologist look at the latest CT. A week later, I got a call-back from the sub-specialist's PA. Apparently even though this nodule -- that I believe is actually a scar -- still didn't grow at all, the sub-specialist still wants to do a biopsy because it didn't shrink or go away. I was offered the option of another CT scan in three months or else go to biopsy. If I do the biopsy, the chance of a collapsed lung is still there but much lower than if VA did it because the pulmonary sub-specialist does it with GPS guidance. The issue here is there's still a slight risk. I could end up intubated and in a hospital. If that isn't bad enough, I am trying desperately to get TIF surgery with hernia repair, have been waiting for months. The hold-up now is the TIF surgeon is out of BRAVO capsules, which makes me angry because in my view, he should have ordered the BRAVO testing a full six months ago. I am really suffering and it looks like the omeprazole I've been taking for my GERD/LPR is affecting my kidney function. I was told by the hernia surgeon if I get TIF with hernia repair, my sore throats will go away, and I won't need omeprazole any more. Anyway, please pray in Jesus's name that I get the BRAV0, get positive result to satisfy the insurance company and get highly successful TIF with hernia repair. Please also pray for an end to horrific nasal symptoms I have that I believe are associated with reflux. Please pray in Jesus's name I make the right decision as to whether or not to go back to ENT. My main objection is I feel my surgeries have been stalled and jerked around for so long, I don't want another doctor to make money off me unless it's to actually fix the problem. Finally in this regard, there's even more: I asked the hernia surgeon if my pain and discomfort wearing bras has anything to do with my hernia. He said, "No," and to my shock, he referred me to a plastic surgeon for breast reduction. I'm 67 years old. I was always big on top but after menopause, I got even bigger. I've lost over a thousand dollars in a year trying different bra brands and I'm holed up in my apartment alot of the time because I won't go braless in public. In addition, I have become so self-conscious, I take pictures wearing shawls and refuse to be photographed from the side. Anyway, the plastic surgeon I went to was very nice. He explained the overly large breasts are even affecting my posture. He put in the paperwork for the breast reduction. He thinks I could get the surgery in November. Anyway, please pray in Jesus's name I am making the right decision here. Please pray if I do get the surgery, I am happy with the result. Finally, please pray in Jesus's name for positive outcomes in ALL of this. I'm so tired of suffering and suffering. I feel the unnecessary delay in scheduling my TIF with hernia repair has caused a bottleneck in my care. [I read there was a recall in BRAVO capsules due to a problem with the adhesive so it may be a blessing in disguise, but still -- I was told eight weeks ago by the TIF surgeon the BRAVO capsules would be in in two weeks.] Also please pray in Jesus's name for an increase in my pulmonary function on my upcoming test, over and above my last one and for a productive conversation with my pulmonologist about biopsy v. another CT scan. I am leaning towards another CT scan because I don't want my surgeries delayed any more than they already have been. Thank you for praying.

We join you in lifting all of these heavy and layered burdens before the Lord in Jesus' name, and we thank you for calling upon His name so faithfully. He sees how long you have carried this suffering, eight years with your jaw, months of waiting and uncertainty with your lungs and reflux, and the daily pain and self-consciousness you feel. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18, and we know He has not overlooked one sleepless night or one moment of pain.

We bring before Him your functional movement disorder and the TMJ it has caused. We understand your description that the hardware is fine but the software malfunctions, and that only deep breathing brings relief, while the medical options of botox with risk of facial droop or medications that sedate you and carry such serious warnings feel like no good choice at all. We pray for your deliverance from this ailment. We ask the Lord who formed your jaw and every nerve, for He heals all your diseases Psalm 103:3 and promises But I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh Jeremiah 30:17. We ask for His healing touch whether by His miraculous power or through wise medical guidance, and for relief from the severe pain and the disruption to your sleep. Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest Matthew 11:28 is His invitation, and we ask Him to give you that rest even now.

We also lift up the concern over the lung nodule. We understand the fear after the CT showed a 6.4-mm irregular nodule, the PET scan with its low SUV of 1.1, and the conflicting readings and recommendations that have left you torn between a biopsy with its risk of collapsed lung and intubation and another watchful CT scan. We are grateful with you that the most recent CT showed no findings concerning for cancer and only scarring, which aligns with what you suspected after your severe COPD and GERD flare. We pray for clear wisdom for you and for your pulmonologist and the sub-specialist as you discuss the next step. But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him James 1:5. We ask God to guide that productive conversation, to grant you peace in making the right decision, and to protect your lungs. We pray specifically for an increase in your pulmonary function on your upcoming test, and that the Lord would guard you from cancer and confirm that this is only scar tissue that will continue to remain stable and harmless. We trust that even in this uncertainty, We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose Romans 8:28.

We bring your GERD, LPR, hiatal hernia and the long wait for TIF with hernia repair before Him as well. We hear your frustration over the delay with the BRAVO capsules and the understandable anger that testing was not ordered sooner, and the worry that the omeprazole may be affecting your kidneys and that your nasal symptoms and sore throats persist. We gently encourage you to cast that frustration and anxiety on Him, for He cares for you 1 Peter 5:7 and In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. We pray that the Lord would provide the BRAVO capsule at the right time, that the result would satisfy the insurance requirements, and that He would open the door for a highly successful TIF with hernia repair that would relieve your reflux, heal your throat and nasal passages, and free you from the need for omeprazole. We pray for restoration of your kidney function and for healing of the reflux-related inflammation. We also pray for wisdom about whether to return to ENT. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight Proverbs 3:5-6. We ask Him to make it clear whether another visit would truly help fix the problem or only add expense and delay, and to protect you from being used for profit.

We also lift up the matter of the breast reduction. We do not see this as vanity, especially at 67 years old after enduring years of physical pain, bra costs, posture strain, and wanting to hide in shawls and avoid photographs. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 and caring for it so you can move without pain and stand upright is good stewardship. We understand the self-consciousness you feel, but we remind you that the Lord looks at the heart and loves you dearly as you are, and He also cares about your comfort and health. We pray that He would give you clear peace about whether to proceed, and if you do have surgery in November, that He would guide the surgeon's hands, grant a safe operation, and give you a result that relieves your pain, improves your posture, and leaves you feeling grateful and at ease, not self-conscious.

Father, we come together in the name of Jesus Christ, our only access to Your throne of grace, and we ask for positive outcomes in all of this. We have carried this bottleneck of delayed care to You, and we ask You to untangle it in Your perfect timing. Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10. Strengthen our sister, help her, uphold her through each appointment, each test, and each night of pain. Let Your healing power be evident in her jaw, her lungs, her esophagus, her nose and throat, and her whole body. Grant her restful sleep, freedom from pain, and renewed hope as she waits on You. We ask all of this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus, our Healer and our Peace, amen.

We hear how worn down you are after carrying so much for so long. Eight years of that jaw movement, pain and broken sleep is a heavy burden, and then facing one medical decision after another with the lung nodule, the waiting for the BRAVO capsule and TIF with hernia repair, plus the nasal symptoms and the questions about breast reduction, it makes sense you feel bottlenecked and tired of suffering.

Living with a chronic condition that does not resolve quickly can leave anyone feeling fragile and powerless, and when care involves delays and conflicting opinions it is even harder to know which step to take next. We are glad you have doctors you can talk with, and we encourage you to keep bringing your concerns to them directly, including the questions about kidney function with omeprazole and the risks and benefits of biopsy versus another CT. It can help to go to that upcoming pulmonology visit with your questions written down and, if possible, someone trusted with you to listen and take notes so you can review together afterward.

We are praying for you.

Father in Jesus name we lift up our sister to You. You see the pain in her jaw, the sleepless nights, and the long years she has endured this. Bring her comfort, steady her care team with wisdom, and give her clarity as she weighs the next steps for her lungs, her stomach and her other needs. Provide for the testing and surgeries she is waiting for, and grant her peace about each decision and satisfaction if she proceeds. Refresh her strength and help her feel Your nearness in this long season. In Jesus name, amen.

Your long and heavy burden has been laid before the Lord with many tears, and we have heard the cry of these eight years of suffering and of these present anxieties which crowd upon you. To be pressed by thronging duties and infirmities and yet to find no rest is a trial indeed, but there is a peace which the world cannot give and cannot take away, and it is written, You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. That peace is not the removal of the affliction at once, but the keeping of the heart and mind through Jesus Christ while the affliction remains, and it is found in believing, in trusting the blood of Jesus which whispers peace within.

We will pray for you in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone is salvation and access to the Father, that He who is our great Deliverer would look upon your body with compassion. For this long functional movement disorder of the jaw, which robs you of sleep and brings such severe pain and has brought TMJ in its train, we ask the Lord for deliverance. He knows the fear that attends the remedies before you, the risk of facial droop with botox and the heavy burden of medications that have knocked you down and carry such warnings. We pray that the Lord, whose leaves are for the healing of the nations and whose least touch is full of healing virtue, would grant you relief, restore peaceful sleep, ease the pain, and guide your physicians to wise and gentle care. We ask that whether by His immediate hand or by sanctified means, you may know His mercy in your body.

For the trial concerning your lungs we also plead with the Lord. We thank Him with you for that measure of relief already given, that the nodule has not grown and that scarring rather than malignancy appears to be the cause, and we pray for perfect wisdom in the strait between another CT scan and a biopsy. Anxiety in such a difficulty unfits the mind to meet it, but whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he, and true wisdom is to trust Him in temporal things while using all lawful means with diligence. We pray that He will grant you an increase in pulmonary function on your upcoming test, and a productive and clear conversation with your pulmonologist, and that He will direct you and your doctors to the right decision, keeping you from unnecessary risk of collapsed lung or intubation, and from delay that would hinder other needed care. May He quiet your heart, for He that looks to God in the face every morning need not fear the face of man.

For your suffering with GERD and LPR, for the sore throats and the nasal symptoms which so weary you, for the concern over kidney function with omeprazole, and for the long waiting for TIF surgery with hernia repair and the frustration of the BRAVO capsule delay and recall, we pray that the Lord would open the right door in His time. We ask in Jesus name that if it be His will, the BRAVO testing would be provided and give a clear result to satisfy what is required, and that the surgery, when it comes, would be highly successful, that your sore throats would cease and your need for that medication would be removed. We pray for healing and for patience, that you may be kept from fretting under delay, and that you may do the will of Jesus and find rest even while you wait. We pray also for wisdom whether to return to ENT, that you would not be tossed about for gain, but led to those who truly seek to fix the problem, and that the Lord would guard you from those who would use your suffering for their own ends.

For the burden concerning breast reduction at sixty seven years, the pain and discomfort, the cost and self consciousness, the effect upon posture and daily life, we pray for clear guidance. We ask the Lord to give you a settled mind, to weigh this decision before Him with godly counsel, and if you proceed in November, that He would grant a safe operation and a result with which you are at peace and truly helped. We pray that you would no longer be holed up in shame, but would know that your life is hidden with Christ and that your worth is in Him, and that whether you go upstairs or abroad, you may go in peace, for your faith has saved you.

We will continue to pray in Jesus name for positive outcomes in all of this, that the bottleneck in your care would be loosed, that your many afflictions would be alleviated, and above all that your mind may be stayed upon Christ. He has delivered in times past, and He will yet deliver. He brought them forth, every one, and not one of His little ones shall perish. Cast yourself upon Him in Christ, and since God has made you free, you are free indeed. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, and keep you in perfect peace as you trust in Him.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
