Mother of me and me

You speak of your mother and of what words and deeds have caused, and you ask if there is a need for confession. Indeed, let us bring everything into the light of God, for He is the All-seeing, the Almighty, the All-knowing. Why do you transgress the commandment of God by your own reasoning? For God commanded, Honor your father and your mother. This is not a light thing, nor can it be set aside by any gift or excuse. Yet, know this also: the kinship of nature is not the kinship that saves. From one man all have sprung, as the stars of the sky, but not all are children of Abraham in spirit. The Scythian becomes a son of Abraham by faith, while a son of Abraham becomes an alien by unbelief. So it is not confidence in your ancestry or your mother's foundation that grants you a relationship with God. That relationship is of the Spirit, won by a life that glorifies Him.

You feel the weight of things caused in your family. I do not deny that Christ Himself said He came to set a man at variance against his father, and a daughter against her mother. Where the truth of the Gospel enters, even the dearest bonds may be strained. But do not let that be an excuse for failing to honor your mother. Rather, let your own life be ordered aright, that your character may show forth the kinship that endures unto eternity. What is greater than this? That we, being sinners, are cleansed by the blood of the Son of God. He did this by Himself, purging our sins. That is the great foundation of our confidence, not any work of ours or of our ancestors.

You cry out for correction and for an eternal connection with Jesus Christ, God, the Holy Spirit, and the angels. This is the very thing that the Son of God came to accomplish. He who was the true Son, heir of all things, suffered to be called the Son of David, so that you, a slave to sin, might become a son of God. Do you see the majesty of this exchange? He took on a slave's father, that He might make the Lord a Father to you. Now, if you wish to be a child of God, imitate His perfection. Be free from the passions that tear families apart. Show gentleness to those who have wronged you, for your heavenly Father makes His sun to rise on the evil and the good. This is the true confession, not only of the lips but of the life, that you are His.

Do not fix your eyes only on the earthly mother who bore you, though you must honor her. Look to the common mother of us all, the earth, from which we came, and see that we are all kin. But the only kinship worthy of honor is that of the same character. So Timothy was Paul's true son, though not by blood, because he displayed the same zeal. Let your "uskoutuminen", your opening up, be this: confess your sins to God, and then show the fruits of kinship with Christ by a heedful way of life. For the blood of the Lord is far greater than all the gifts of grace. Even now He intercedes for you, as if He had not yet suffered all there is to suffer for His body's sake.

Therefore, cease from vain confidence in human lineage, and cling to the kinship of the Spirit. Glorify God in all things, and you shall find the correction you seek. The relationship with God, to God, from God, is given in Jesus Christ. He is the way. Honor your mother, but love Christ above all. Then shall you be truly gathered into that eternal household where He is a Son over His own house, and you a partaker of that house through faith.

Your words carry the weight of a mother’s heart, longing for her son to be restored to the life he was made for. That desire to see broken things mended is not foreign to God; it is the very reason He sent His Son. From the beginning, our Maker created us to walk with Him in unbroken fellowship, a shared life of love, joy, and mutual delight. That is what sin shattered, and that is what Jesus came to restore.

You ask about confession, and whether there is a way back after what has been said and done. The answer is yes, there is always a way back, but it comes through the door of honest confession. It is not about earning forgiveness; it is about agreeing with God about the reality of our need. Sin always severs communion with Him, just as it did in the garden. But the blood of Jesus Christ, God’s own Son, was shed to cover every sin, every word, every deed, every hidden thing. His sacrifice is enough. The record God has given is not one of condemnation for those who come to the light, but the offer of eternal life. That life is in His Son, and when we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. The past loses its claim; the sins that plague a person’s conscience are taken by Christ and buried, and in their place He gives His own righteousness, a gift, not wages.

What your son needs, and what you are praying into, is not merely a turning away from wrong but a coming home to the Father who has already made the provision. Jesus was made sin for us, though He knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. All the corruption, all the wanderings, He bore on the cross. The only sin anyone must ultimately answer for is refusing to come to that light, choosing darkness over the reconciling love that calls us back.

Remember that God’s overarching purpose is to draw us into a living, intimate fellowship with Himself. He does not desire religious formality; He desires sons and daughters who know Him as Father. The Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we belong to Him. This is not earned by performance, it is received by faith in the One who loved us and gave Himself for us. And because of that, sin no longer has to hold dominion. The grip of the old life is broken; the gift of God is a new life, eternal and free, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

For a son who has strayed, the path back may include affliction or the weight of consequences, but these can be instruments in God’s hand to awaken the heart, not merely punishments. As a mother, you stand in a place of powerful intercession. Our Lord told us that if two agree on earth concerning anything, it will be done. You are not alone; the Spirit Himself groans with you for your son’s full restoration. Keep your eternal perspective fixed. The struggles of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that will be revealed in the children of God. Your hope is not in this world’s temporary fixes but in the building of God not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

So bring your son before the throne of grace with confidence. Ask in Jesus’ name, not for a superficial patch but for true conviction, genuine repentance, and the healing of a broken spirit. Pray for his eyes to be opened to the love that has been pursuing him all along. The same God who sees all, who knows all, who holds all power, is the God who longs to restore. He is already at work. May the joy of fellowship, oneness with God, be your son’s portion again, and may your own heart be filled with that peace that surpasses understanding as you trust your child into the hands of the One who loves him even more than you do.

We are so grateful you entrusted us with your heartfelt prayer request, sharing your deep concern for your older son’s spiritual journey and the restoration of his relationship with the Lord. It is a sacred privilege to stand in agreement with you before our Heavenly Father, lifting up your family in prayer as you seek His wisdom, grace, and intervention.

We have been praying fervently that the Holy Spirit would soften your son’s heart, open his eyes to God’s truth, and draw him back into the loving arms of our Savior. We asked the Lord to surround him with godly influences, to break any chains of doubt or rebellion, and to remind him of the unshakable hope found only in Jesus Christ. We also prayed for you, dear sister, that the Lord would grant you peace, patience, and wisdom as you continue to model Christ’s love and intercede for your son.

If the Lord has already moved in a powerful way—if you’ve seen glimpses of His work in your son’s life or felt His comfort in your own heart—we would be overjoyed to hear your praise report. Sharing how God is answering prayer encourages all of us to trust Him more deeply.

If, however, the wait continues and the burden still feels heavy, please know we are here to keep praying. Do not hesitate to post this request again so we can persist in lifting it before the throne of grace. Our God is faithful, and His timing is perfect, even when we cannot see the full picture.

May the Lord bless you with His presence, strengthen you with His peace, and fill you with hope as you continue to seek Him. We pray that He would reveal Himself to your son in ways that cannot be ignored, drawing him back into a vibrant, life-giving relationship with Jesus. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
