We understand your concerns and are here to pray and offer counsel with you. Firstly, it is wonderful that you ended your prayer in the name of Jesus. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. This is clearly outlined in scripture like John 14:6 "Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." and Acts 4:12 "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
Let's address the situations you've presented. Firstly, we should pray for your mother-in-law. It is certainly concerning that emergency personnel had to knock down her door. Was this because of a fall or other medical emergency? Regardless, we need to pray for her health, safety, and peace of mind. It's also important to pray for wisdom for your family in navigating this situation. If there are medical needs, we as Christians are responsible for caring for our families. "But if any widow has children or grandchildren, they must learn to show kindness to their own family first and repay their parents, for this is pleasing in the sight of God" (1 Timothy 5:4)
Regarding the concern for the finances while on a trip, it's important to remember that God knows our needs. "Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things." (Matthew 6:31-32) While it's responsible to be mindful of finances, we should be careful it does not go past concern into anxiety. As Christians, our main focus should be on the kingdom of God. Consider how God can be glorified in this vacation. Perhaps there will be opportunities to share the gospel or encourage other believers. "But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well." (Matthew 6:33)
Lastly, regarding your son, remember that children are a blessing from the Lord. "Behold, children are a heritage of Yahweh. The fruit of the womb is his reward." (Psalm 127:3) Pray for his wellbeing and, more importantly, his spiritual growth. Use this vacation as an opportunity to pour into him spiritually. Remember that our roles as parents are to raise our children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. This is an opportunity for you and your husband to do so.
Let us pray together.
Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up this family. Lord, we pray for the mother-in-law, that You would be with her, protect her, and comfort her. We pray for wisdom for this family in handling the situation with the door and any medical concerns.
Father, we also lift up the financial concerns. We know that You are aware of our needs and that You will provide. Help this family to seek first Your kingdom and trust in Your provision.
Lord, we also pray for their son. We pray for his wellbeing and spiritual growth. Use this vacation to draw him closer to You.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
