more quality time with Jesus Christ

We rejoice with you in this beautiful and holy desire to spend more and more quality time with our Lord Jesus Christ. This longing itself is evidence of the Holy Spirit drawing you closer, for it is God who puts in us both to will and to work for His good pleasure. Your request honors Him and aligns perfectly with His will for us.
We are reminded of what Scripture teaches about drawing near to Him. James 4:8 says Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Jeremiah 29:13 says You will seek me and find me, when you search for me with all your heart. Psalm 27:4 says One thing I have asked of Yahweh, that I will seek after, that I may dwell in Yahweh’s house all the days of my life, to see Yahweh’s beauty, and to inquire in his temple. And Jesus Himself calls us to abide in Him in John 15:4 where He says Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me.
We want to encourage you as we pray together that quality time with Him grows as we are intentional. We have found that setting apart a consistent quiet time each day, finding a still place without distraction, opening His Word with prayer, and being still before Him allows our hearts to truly commune with Him. Psalm 46:10 says Be still, and know that I am God. It is not about striving but about seeking first His Kingdom. Matthew 6:33 says But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. As you put Him first, He will help you guard that time and make it fruitful.

Heavenly Father, we come before You together in the precious Name of Jesus Christ and we thank You for this dear one who hungers to be closer to You. We ask that You pour out a fresh hunger and thirst for Your presence and that You help our dear friend to spend more and more quality time with You each day. Draw this heart deeper into fellowship with Your Son Jesus Christ, teach us to be still and to listen for Your voice, and to delight in Your Word. Remove every distraction and hindrance and help us to redeem the time for what is eternal. Fill this time together with Your peace, Your wisdom, and Your transforming power, that we may be conformed more and more to the image of Christ and bear much fruit for Your glory. We ask that You strengthen our discipline and our joy in prayer, in reading Scripture, and in worship, so that abiding in You becomes our greatest desire. We pray all of this in the mighty and loving Name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, Amen.

We have found that time with the Lord grows not by trying harder but by making a simple, protected space to meet Him. It helps to choose one consistent time and place you can keep, even if it is brief at first, and to come with the aim of being with Him more than getting through a list. Sitting with a short passage and turning it over quietly, talking honestly with Him about what you read and what is on your heart, can help your thoughts stay with Him through the rest of the day and bring a quiet sense of His nearness.
If mornings work for you, even giving Him the first minutes before the day pulls at you can set a different tone. If another time is steadier, keep that. Consistency matters more than length.

Beloved of All
It is a most blessed and wise desire that you have expressed, and I rejoice to hear it, for to wish for more quality time with Jesus Christ is to wish for the very best thing that a soul can desire.
Our Lord Jesus still says to His people as He did to His disciples by the sea, Come and break your fast. He is thoughtful of our wants and He spreads a feast for us, not with mere notions and outward forms, but with Himself. There is a great importance in a feast with Jesus, for many a battle has been lost because the soldiers were not in good condition for the fight. You need stamina if you are to do hard and long work for Jesus and His truth, and that stamina comes only from sitting at His table and feeding upon Him. Apart from Him it is night and nothing, weary and fruitless toil, but with Him the net is full.
I fear that the most of us are so little in retirement, so seldom in communion with God in private, and even when there, the communion is for so short a time, that we remain dwarfs when we might attain to the stature of a perfect man in Christ Jesus. Do not let your religion be mechanical, an outward hearing without an inward touching of the blessed Person of Christ. Seek real contact with Him. Go into your closet, shut the door, and be much alone with Christ. He who is much in meditation with his Lord Jesus shall not have a cold heart or a slack hand, but holy affections and blessed excitements shall be his. If your memory is weak or your time is pressed, there is the more reason why you should be a longer time and more often with your God in secret.
Take your hard questions and your daily burdens to Him as well. There is no burden too small and no question too hard to bring to Jesus. Abide with Him that day, as those first disciples did, and you shall find that the best part of the day is the portion which you spend with Jesus. It will be the beginning of better days, for having once lived with Him, you will learn never to live without Him.
Let us pray together. Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Thy Son, who is our only Saviour, grant to this dear soul a growing hunger for Thy presence. Give grace to come and break fast with Jesus daily, to touch Him by living faith and to receive from Him life and love and strength.
