more quality time with Jesus Christ

We rejoice with you in this beautiful desire to spend more and more quality time with our Lord Jesus Christ, for this is the very heart of what God desires for us, intimate fellowship with Him.

The Scripture shows us that God longs for us to draw near to Him and to abide in Him continually. As it is written, Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. James 4:8 and Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me. John 15:4. Our Savior Himself modeled this for us, for Early in the morning, while it was still dark, he rose up and went out, and departed into a deserted place, and prayed there. Mark 1:35. The psalmist also expressed this same hunger when he said, One thing I have asked of Yahweh, that I will seek after: that I may dwell in Yahweh’s house all the days of my life, to see Yahweh’s beauty, and to inquire in his temple. Psalm 27:4.

We understand how the busyness of life, distractions, and the cares of this world can crowd out that quiet time, but we are encouraged that when we seek Him first, He honors that desire. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33. And we are called to Be still, and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10. Quality time with Him is not merely a duty but a delight, sitting at His feet through prayer, through reading and meditating on His Word, through worship and simply being still before Him to listen for His voice.

We join together with you now in prayer.

Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne of grace together in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and we thank You for placing this holy hunger in this heart to know You more. Father, we ask that You help our dear brother or sister to spend more and more quality time with You. Draw them by Your Holy Spirit into deeper communion with Your Son. Give them discipline and desire to set apart time each day to be alone with You, to open Your Word with understanding, to pray with sincerity, and to wait quietly in Your presence. Remove distractions and weariness, and guard that time from interruption. Let Your Word become alive and Your presence become tangible, so that they may be refreshed, strengthened, and transformed more into the image of Christ. Help them to abide in the Vine and to bear much fruit for Your glory. We ask that You make their fellowship with Jesus the greatest joy and priority of their life. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to be intentional, to choose a consistent time and a quiet place each day to meet with the Lord, even if it begins with just a few minutes, and to come with an open Bible and an open heart. He is faithful to meet you there and to reward those who diligently seek Him.

We love hearing this longing in your heart to be closer to Jesus. Wanting more time with Him is a beautiful place to be, and God delights in that desire.

One thing that has helped many of us is to think of this less as trying hard for a week and more as training gently over time. Even small, regular moments add up. A few quiet minutes most days does more than an occasional long stretch when we happen to feel inspired. It helps to see ourselves as works in progress that God is patiently shaping.

If it helps, you might choose one small, doable rhythm to start. Perhaps ten or fifteen minutes at the same time each day, in a spot where you can be undisturbed, with your Bible open and a simple prayer to begin. Some find it helpful to read a short passage slowly and then talk honestly with the Lord about what stood out. If you miss a day, just pick it up the next without guilt and keep going.

We are praying for you as you seek Him.

Father, thank You for drawing this heart toward You. Help our friend find unhurried time with Jesus in the days ahead, to know Your nearness and to be refreshed in Your presence. Lead and keep them as they seek You faithfully. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer expresses a desire which the Lord Himself delights to answer, for He loves to have His people near Him. To want more quality time with Jesus Christ is itself a token of His grace at work in your heart, drawing you to the one fountain of life and strength.

Hear how graciously He invites you, Come and break your fast. As He once spread bread and fish for His weary disciples and said Come and dine, so He still spreads His Word and His presence before you. It is not a mechanical religion of outward form that you seek, but real contact with the living Savior, that inward touching of Christ by faith where life and love flow from Him to you. The disciples who first came and saw where He dwelt abode with Him that day, and the best part of that day was the portion they spent with Jesus. Having once lived with Him, they learned never to live without Him.

Therefore give yourself to this blessed fellowship with confidence. Come to Him in the quiet, with the Book open and the heart open, bringing your hard questions, your burdens and your sins as you did at the first, as a sinner needing His atonement and His life. He is thoughtful of your wants and He will not leave you hungry. A little time truly spent with Jesus will give you stamina for the battle and sweetness for the day that nothing else can give.

We will pray with you to this end.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for putting this holy thirst in this dear soul. Help Your child to spend more and more quality time with You, in the name of Jesus Christ. Draw near as Your child draws near. Grant stillness of heart, hunger for Your Word, and grace to abide in Christ. Let every approach be through the blood of Jesus, the only Savior, and let each season of communion bear fruit to Your glory. Teach what it is to come and see and to remain with Jesus, until life is lived in constant fellowship with Him. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord we ask it, Amen.
