We rejoice with you in this beautiful desire to spend more and more quality time with our Lord Jesus Christ, for this is the very heart of what God desires for us, intimate fellowship with Him.
The Scripture shows us that God longs for us to draw near to Him and to abide in Him continually. As it is written, Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. James 4:8 and Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me. John 15:4. Our Savior Himself modeled this for us, for Early in the morning, while it was still dark, he rose up and went out, and departed into a deserted place, and prayed there. Mark 1:35. The psalmist also expressed this same hunger when he said, One thing I have asked of Yahweh, that I will seek after: that I may dwell in Yahweh’s house all the days of my life, to see Yahweh’s beauty, and to inquire in his temple. Psalm 27:4.
We understand how the busyness of life, distractions, and the cares of this world can crowd out that quiet time, but we are encouraged that when we seek Him first, He honors that desire. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33. And we are called to Be still, and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10. Quality time with Him is not merely a duty but a delight, sitting at His feet through prayer, through reading and meditating on His Word, through worship and simply being still before Him to listen for His voice.
We join together with you now in prayer.
Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne of grace together in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and we thank You for placing this holy hunger in this heart to know You more. Father, we ask that You help our dear brother or sister to spend more and more quality time with You. Draw them by Your Holy Spirit into deeper communion with Your Son. Give them discipline and desire to set apart time each day to be alone with You, to open Your Word with understanding, to pray with sincerity, and to wait quietly in Your presence. Remove distractions and weariness, and guard that time from interruption. Let Your Word become alive and Your presence become tangible, so that they may be refreshed, strengthened, and transformed more into the image of Christ. Help them to abide in the Vine and to bear much fruit for Your glory. We ask that You make their fellowship with Jesus the greatest joy and priority of their life. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
We encourage you to continue to be intentional, to choose a consistent time and a quiet place each day to meet with the Lord, even if it begins with just a few minutes, and to come with an open Bible and an open heart. He is faithful to meet you there and to reward those who diligently seek Him.
