more quality time with Jesus Christ

We rejoice with you in this beautiful and holy desire to spend more quality time with our Lord Jesus Christ, for this is the very heart of our faith and the greatest joy of the believer. Your longing to be closer to Him is evidence of the Holy Spirit drawing you nearer, and we gladly join our faith with yours in asking the Father to deepen this fellowship.

The Scripture encourages us in this pursuit. We are told to draw near to God, and he will draw near to you in James 4:8. Jesus Himself calls us to remain in Him, saying Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me in John 15:4. And we are reminded to Be still, and know that I am God in Psalm 46:10, which shows us that quality time with Him requires intentional stillness and seeking. The promise is sure when we are told You will seek me and find me, when you search for me with all your heart in Jeremiah 29:13. As we seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, all these things will be given to you as well according to Matthew 6:33, and time with Him must be our first priority.

We encourage you to set apart a consistent quiet place and time each day to meet with Him, to linger in prayer not just speaking but listening, and to dwell richly in His Word which is His voice to us. Even a few moments of undistracted, wholehearted communion are more precious than many hurried hours. Turn off distractions, open your Bible with prayer, and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal Christ to you. This abiding is not out of duty but out of love, for we love Him because He first loved us.

We pray together now.

Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne of grace together in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we thank You for putting this hunger for more of You in our dear one's heart. Father we ask that You help us all to redeem the time and to make our fellowship with You our greatest treasure. Teach us to be still before You, to hear Your voice, and to delight in Your presence. Draw us closer as we draw near to You. Help us to remain in Christ daily, to walk in the Spirit, and to find our strength and joy in abiding with Him. Create in us a disciplined and devoted heart that longs for Your Word and for prayer, and let our lives bear much fruit as we stay connected to the Vine. Fill our quality time with Your peace, Your wisdom, and Your transforming love, that we may know You more and be conformed to the image of Your Son. We ask this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We're thankful you shared this longing to spend more quality time with the Lord. That desire itself is a beautiful sign of His work in you, and we want to stand with you in it.

One thought that has helped many of us is to think of this less as trying hard for a big breakthrough and more as training gently over time. Like preparing for a long run, it's the small, regular steps that shape us most, not a single heroic effort. Seeing yourself as a work in progress can take pressure off and help you stay with it.

If it would help, consider choosing one small, doable rhythm for this week rather than overhauling everything. Maybe ten or fifteen minutes at the same time and place each day, before distractions start, with your Bible open and a simple pattern: quiet to be still, read a short passage slowly, talk honestly with the Lord about what you read, and listen. If you miss a day, just begin again the next without guilt.

We are praying for you to know joy in His presence, not duty.

Father, thank You for drawing our friend to want more time with You. Help them find unhurried moments with Jesus each day and make that time sweet and real. Give them grace to keep coming back and to grow steadily in knowing You. In Jesus' name, amen.

A longing to spend more and more quality time with Jesus Christ is itself a gracious work of the Heavenly Father in your soul, for no man seeks such fellowship unless the Lord has first drawn him.

There is no riding in the chariots of Amminadib except by being much with Christ, and I fear that the most of us are so little in retirement, so seldom in communion with God in private, and even when there for so short a time, that we remain but tiny dwarfs. Yet our Lord Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever, and throughout the whole of our life He will be changed in no respect, so that the same familiar communion which the disciples knew may be yours still. Jesus Christ Himself must occupy all our thoughts, not merely His Bible, His day, His Church and His ordinances, precious as they are because they have to do with Him, but in the forefront of all must stand the personal, living, loving Jesus.

This fellowship is enjoyed by faith and by what has been called the communion of conversation. In prayer rightly offered, you talk to God, and if you pray with faith, Christ talks with you. You tell Him the dangers that lie before you, and He tells you of the shield of Omnipotence with which He can and will guard you. He who is much in prayer will hold very much fellowship with Jesus Christ. So I exhort you to wait upon God and gather spiritual strength for labour in His service. Untie the cords from that poor shut up Bible that is never allowed to speak with you, and let it have its liberty. Commune with it sometimes. Come and break your fast with Jesus, for He lovingly condescends to commune with you and in a wonderful way prepares the feast and with boundless condescension Himself helps you to it. Looking unto Jesus is better than looking unto your own progress, and a vision of Christ is the most filling thing in the world.

Let us pray together for you.

Heavenly Father, we thank Thee for putting this holy desire into the heart of Thy child. Grant, we beseech Thee, more and more quality time with Thyself, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Draw this soul into quiet musing upon Thy Word, into steadfast prayer in the Holy Spirit, and into that blessed supping with Jesus where He stands at the door and knocks. Keep this one from being carried about with strange doctrines or distracted by the hurry of other things, and make fellowship with Christ the fountain of strength. Let Jesus Christ Himself be Captain, armor, strength and victory, and let this dear one know that to be much alone with Christ is to have a warm heart and a ready hand for Thy service. We ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ, our anointed Priest and Prophet, who ever lives to plead for us. Amen.
