Hands up

Disciple of Prayer
Desperate for money, I need money please, having enough to survive is keeping me in depression, having debts I feel like I am just living to pay off debts I know what I want to do, but the finances are holding me back, please pray I don't want to.keep living in survival mode and wondering if I am just here to pay off debts

We hear your cry for help, and we stand with you in this time of financial struggle and emotional weight. The burden of debt and the pressure of survival can indeed feel overwhelming, even suffocating at times. But we want you to know that you are not alone, God sees your struggle, hears your prayers, and cares deeply about your needs. The Bible tells us in Philippians 4:19, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." This is not just a promise; it is a truth we cling to, even when circumstances seem impossible.

First, we must address the spiritual foundation of your request. We notice that your plea does not mention Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." If you have not already, we encourage you to surrender your life to Christ, for He is the source of all hope, provision, and peace. Salvation is found in no one else, and it is the first step toward true freedom, not just from financial bondage, but from the weight of sin and despair. If you would like to know more about how to receive Christ as your Savior, we would be honored to guide you.

Now, let us lift you up in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our brother/sister who is burdened by financial struggle and the weight of debt. Lord, You know the depths of their need, and You see the despair that threatens to overwhelm them. We ask that You would break the chains of financial bondage in their life. Provide for their every need according to Your riches in glory, Lord. Open doors of opportunity, grant wisdom in managing resources, and give them favor in the eyes of those who can help. Father, we rebuke the spirit of lack and poverty that seeks to keep them in survival mode. We declare that You are Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides, and we trust in Your promise to sustain them.

Lord, we also pray for peace to guard their heart and mind. The anxiety and depression they feel are real, but we ask that You would replace those emotions with Your perfect peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Remind them that their worth is not defined by their financial situation but by their identity in Christ. Help them to cast all their cares upon You, for You care for them (1 Peter 5:7).

We also ask for wisdom in managing their debts. Give them clarity in creating a plan to address what they owe, and provide the resources to do so. If there are areas where they have not been a good steward, reveal those to them, and help them to repent and seek Your guidance in moving forward. Proverbs 3:9-10 says, "Honor Yahweh with your substance, with the first fruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine." Lord, help them to honor You with their finances, even in this difficult season.

Father, we also pray for the desires of their heart. You know the dreams and goals they have, and we ask that You would align those with Your will. If it is Your plan for them to pursue what they feel called to do, provide the means and the timing to do so. But if there is a season of waiting or a different path You have for them, give them the patience and trust to follow Your lead. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says Yahweh, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."

Lastly, Lord, we ask that You would surround them with a community of believers who can offer support, encouragement, and practical help. Let them not feel isolated in this struggle but remind them that they are part of the body of Christ, and we are called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2).

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Provider, our Peace, and our Hope. Amen.

Now, let us offer some biblical encouragement and practical steps for you to consider. First, remember that God is not unaware of your situation. In Matthew 6:25-26, Jesus tells us, "Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothing? See the birds of the air, that they don’t sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you of much more value than they?" This does not mean we should not work or plan, but it does mean that our ultimate trust must be in God, not in our own efforts or the systems of this world.

Second, we encourage you to take practical steps to address your financial situation. This may include creating a budget, seeking financial counseling, or exploring additional sources of income. Proverbs 21:5 says, "The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit; and everyone who is hasty surely rushes to poverty." Diligence and wise planning are key. If you are able, seek out resources or organizations that can help you manage debt or provide financial guidance. There is no shame in asking for help, it is a step toward freedom.

Third, guard your heart against bitterness or resentment. It is easy to feel like life is unfair when we are struggling, but holding onto anger or despair will only make the burden heavier. Instead, focus on gratitude for what you do have. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, "In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you." Even in difficult circumstances, there are blessings to be found. Gratitude shifts our perspective and opens our hearts to receive more from God.

Lastly, we want to gently address the possibility of any ungodly financial practices in your past or present. If there are areas where you have not honored God with your finances, whether through dishonesty, greed, or poor stewardship, we encourage you to repent and seek His forgiveness. God is faithful to forgive and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9), but true repentance involves turning away from those practices and seeking His way. If you need to make restitution or change your habits, ask God for the strength to do so.

Remember, this season of struggle is not the end of your story. God is at work, even when we cannot see it. Hold onto hope, trust in His promises, and take one step at a time. You are not defined by your debt or your financial situation. You are a child of the King, and He has a plan for your life that goes far beyond survival. We stand with you in faith, believing that God will make a way where there seems to be no way. Keep pressing forward, and do not lose heart. Galatians 6:9 reminds us, "Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up." Your breakthrough is coming.
