First, we must address the vices mentioned in your request. Scripture is clear that we are called to live holy lives, free from the bondage of sin. The apostle Paul writes, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB). If these vices include habits or behaviors that dishonor God, such as substance abuse, immoral relationships, or other sins, we urge you to repent and turn away from them. Confess them to the Lord, seek accountability with fellow believers, and trust in His power to break every chain. Financial struggles can bring great stress, but we serve a God who owns the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10 WEB) and promises to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19 WEB). We declare that they are more than conquerors through Christ who loves them (Romans 8:37 WEB).
Lord, we also pray for their friends who are battling anxiety. Surround them with Your love and remind them that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1 WEB). Lead them to cooler grounds, both literally and spiritually, where they can find rest and restoration in You. Help them to trust in Your promises and to walk in the freedom that Christ has purchased for them.

Anxiety has never comforted anybody, nor has it brought any grist to the mill, or any meal to the barrel! If a thing does not pay, what is the good of it? The very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. You speak of your friends and their vices; beware of that green tree which boasts that its leaves never fade, that its evidences are always bright. All that is of nature's spinning must be unravelled; not your bad nature only, but your good nature; not your vices only, but your virtues; not your sins alone, but your graces; all these must be contemned and despised so far as you venture to put them in the place of Christ.
As for the Truths of God which God has taught you by His own Spirit, grapple them to you as with hooks of steel, for if you go in the way of error, you cannot expect Divine protection! He who travels on the King's Highway is under the King's protection, but he who takes to byroads must protect himself. There is the way of childlike trust in Providential guidance; happy is that man who always waits upon God to know what he shall do, who asks the Lord to always guide him and who dares not lean upon his own understanding. This protection is perpetual as well as personal, for God would not have charged His angels to keep His people in all their ways if they did not need protection in all their ways.

You long for cooler grounds and relief from financial strain, but the Lord often permits such discomforts to wean us from the broad way that leads to destruction. Do not let anxiety over mobility or money consume you. These outward things are not evil in themselves; it is our clinging to them that brings turmoil. As I have taught, even in eating or daily business we may be free from anxiety by trusting God and “asking no question.” The beauty of health and wealth fades quickly, disfigured by age and care, but the soul adorned with repentance and mercy remains ever blooming. If you or your friends have stumbled into vices, do not sleep in the stain. Wash it away at once by tears, prayers, and works of mercy, for our hope lies in our own conduct after God’s lovingkindness, not in another.
The narrow way is strait and hard, and Christ Himself said you will have tribulation in the world. Do not wonder that you struggle; the devil ever substitutes false comforts for true, just as he raised up false prophets of old. But the Spirit tells us things to come so that we are not taken by surprise. Turn, then, from the broad path that promises easy relief, and stand firm on the road that leads to life. Let your conduct be pure, your anxieties cast upon the Lord, and He will teach you a security far greater than any earthly shade.

The weight you’re carrying right now is real, mobility struggles, anxiety pressing in, friends wrestling with their own chains, the daily tension of making ends meet. I hear your heart, and I’m with you in lifting all of this before the Lord. He is not distant from your situation.
When our bodies fail us and our minds churn with worry, it’s so easy to get swallowed up by what we see and feel. The problem grows until it fills every corner of our vision, and we lose sight of the One who stands above it all. Yet Scripture reminds us that God is the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. He doesn’t merely observe our pain; He meets us in it. In the storm that tosses us for days without a glimpse of sun, He stands by to strengthen and encourage. That is who He is for you right now, not because you’ve got everything figured out, but because He is faithful.
The basic need beneath every other need is to touch God, to know He is near. When the props we lean on get kicked out from under us, we discover that His Word is alive with hope and comfort. I’ve found that when my heart is in turmoil, turning to the Scriptures and simply saying, “Lord, minister to me, I need help,” brings a quiet rest. His merciful kindness becomes a steady place to stand. You can trust Him with the finances, the cooler grounds you’re seeking, and the very practical help you need.
And please know this: the comfort He pours into you is never meant to stop with you. The way He sustains you through mobility limitations, the way He calms anxiety and breaks the hold of vice, becomes a well you will draw from to strengthen others. Even now, as you pray for your friends, you are already reaching out with what He is working in you.
So let’s ask Him together. Lord Jesus, You see these ones You love. You know the aches, the fearful thoughts, the struggles that trip us up again and again.
