You sit with the weight of many burdens all pressing in at once, the threat of loss hanging over what belongs to your household, the frustration of eyes that will not see clearly, and the weariness of a body that needs mending from head to foot. It is no small thing to carry all this in one heart. But let me speak a quiet word into the thick of it: your property is not the devil's prize to snatch, for the blood of Jesus has already spoken over every inch of it. It is the Lord’s own, and you are His servant asking Him to defend what is right. That is no small prayer, and it is heard.
Think of it this way. When you bring a matter to the Lord, you are not pleading before a reluctant judge who must be worn down with words. You are coming to a Father who already knows, who already cares, and who has bound Himself to bless His children. The discount you seek restored, the fairness you cry out for, these are not trifles to Him. It is not as though He is preoccupied with larger worlds and leaves small things to chance. The very hairs of your head are numbered; the sparrow that falls is noted. How much more this matter that touches your daily bread and the shelter over your head? He will not let the adversary plunder what belongs to His own.
And while we are at it, let me speak to those eyes of yours. You cannot see well, and the glasses meant to help have failed you, and men hide behind their warranties and say nothing can be done. That is a narrow, earthly rule. The Lord is not bound by warranties. He who made the eye, who formed its delicate parts and gave the miracle of sight, can certainly command a pair of lenses to serve you, or bypass them altogether and touch your eyes directly with His healing power. He is the Beloved Physician who still walks among us, and His power to heal is as present now as when He made the lame leap and opened blind eyes long ago. Do not let the earthly “cannot” silence the heavenly “can.” You are not coming to a shopkeeper but to the Lord of life. He can make a way where the rules of men have shut the door.
Your shoes, too, those orthotics that must fit just so, are not beyond His notice. He who made your feet and numbered every bone knows exactly what they need. It may seem a small thing to others, but He is not above tailoring His mercies to the shape of your foot. Trust Him with it. Bring it as often as you need.
And what was it you asked in the same breath? Godly help and friends who stick closer than a brother. He has heard that cry, and He will answer. The Lord does not mean for us to walk alone; He puts the solitary in families and raises up companions for the road. Sometimes He comes Himself, nearer than any friend, and settles the heart in a deep peace that no human word can give. And then, in His time, He sends a fellow pilgrim, someone whose soul is knit to yours in the fellowship of the Gospel. Do not think He withholds because He delays. He is weaving a net of mercies, and not one strand will be missing.
So let this be your posture: not clutching at everything in panic, but spreading each concern before the Lord and leaving it there. The property, tell Him it is His and ask Him to guard His own. The eyes, ask the One who gave sight to look upon your need. The shoes, the friends, the daily bread, lay them all down. Then rise in quiet confidence, not because the trouble has passed yet, but because He who holds you will not let you go.
Let me pray this over you now, with all my heart.
Lord Jesus, You who are our mercy seat and our throne of grace, look upon this dear soul. Defend what is right in the matter of this property and let no unjust hand prevail against it. Touch these eyes with Your healing power, and where human help has failed, provide a miracle of mercy. Fit the shoes to these feet, and let the body know Your restoring touch from the crown of the head to the sole of the foot. Send friends who are like Your own heart, faithful and true. And above all, be Yourself the nearest and dearest companion of this pilgrim way. We leave every need at Your pierced feet, confident that You will not fail us. Amen.
