Your prayer overflows with thanksgiving and faith, and rightly so, for you have witnessed the mercy of Christ upon your son. The peace and calm granted to him is a gift from above, and you do well to praise God for it. Yet consider what that peace truly is. The peace of God surpasses all understanding; it is not a fragile truce with circumstances, but the unshakable presence of Christ within, guarding heart and mind. This same peace must rule your own soul as an umpire over every thought.

When you pray, you recount many things: rebukes against word curses, casting out those who cause havoc, warfare against enemies. But listen carefully: the mother of all good things is peace. If you receive the peace of Christ and give it back in the liturgy, how can your heart be at war with others? To make disturbance is to act as a child of the devil, but peacemakers are called sons of God. Christ came to destroy the enmity, not to multiply it. Therefore, beware lest in seeking protection you yourself fall into contentious thoughts. Let the peace of God decide the conflict within you: the impulse to strike back versus the call to endure. Let peace hand the prize to patience.

You ask for angels to guard your home. Indeed, each believer has an angel, as the Lord said, “See that you despise not one of these little ones, for their angels always behold the face of My Father.” Your son is one of these little ones, precious in God’s sight. Trust in that care more than in your own warring words. He who has begun a good work will complete it. Do not let anxiety drive you to see enemies everywhere, for Christ’s peace is not of this world; He gives it freely, not as the world gives. Receive it, then, and let it flow from you to all, even to those you might call adversaries.

Pray, yes, but pray with a heart free from revenge. Follow peace with all, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord. So let your supplication be calm, full of confidence that the God who reconciled earth to heaven will guard your son and your home. May His peace, which exceeds all understanding, keep you both firm in Christ Jesus.

Your heart is full of gratitude for the calm day your son enjoyed, and that gratitude itself is a beautiful fruit of God’s peace at work. When you gathered others to pray, you were standing on the promise that where two or three agree in His name, He is there. And He was. Now you are trusting Him to continue the good work He has begun, and that trust is the very place where perfect peace takes root.

That peace is more than a quiet day. It is first of all peace with God, made possible through the blood of Jesus Christ. The war is over for all who belong to Him. But many still experience turmoil in the mind, in the body, in the daily battles of life. So God offers a deeper peace, the peace of God, that comes when the mind is stayed on Him. As you keep bringing your son before the Lord, as you refuse to let go in prayer, you are fixing your mind on the One who speaks peace to His people. His thoughts toward your son are thoughts of peace, not of evil, to give him an expected end.

You have asked for healing, complete, total, now. That longing is not wrong; it is the cry of a mother’s love. Scripture tells us that by His stripes we are healed, and Matthew stretches that promise to include physical healing as well as spiritual. Yet we also see that healing can unfold gradually. The only recorded miracle where Jesus healed in stages reminds us that God often works through processes He Himself designed, processes that are no less divine. A quiet day, a less confused meal, a step away from old habits, these are not small things. They are glimpses of restoration, truces in the battle, and reasons to rejoice.

This does not mean we stop asking for the full breakthrough. Give Him no rest, as the watchmen on Jerusalem’s walls never held their peace. Stand in the gap for your son. Rebuke what must be rebuked. Cover him in prayer for every meal, every outing, every relationship. But as you pray, let your heart rest in this: the peace God gives is a Person. Jesus Himself is our peace. The peace that surpasses understanding does not mean all circumstances are fixed at once; it means that in the middle of them, your heart and mind are guarded in Christ Jesus.

So yes, plead for protection, for the removal of torment, for the breaking of chains. Ask boldly for restoration of his functional language and for tender, peaceful nights. But hold those requests with open hands. The Lord will give what is good. When He heals completely in a moment, it is His doing; when He heals little by little, it is still His doing. And even when some thorns remain, His grace is sufficient and His power is made perfect in weakness.

You are sowing peace in the soil of prayer, and the harvest will be righteousness. Keep your eyes on Him. In every calm day, in every small advance, hear Him say, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.” That is the voice that silences fear. That is the voice that stills the inner storm. May you and your household know today that the Lord ordains peace for you, and may your son continue to feel its quiet weight through every ordinary moment.
