Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer rises like incense before the throne, a cry for mercy and salvation in days that truly feel like the beginning of birth pangs. The rumble of nations and the threat of war can unsettle the heart, but the Spirit says, see to it that you are not alarmed. These things must happen, yet the end is still to come. What anchors us is not the absence of conflict but the certainty that the Lord sits enthroned; He does whatever pleases Him, and no wisdom, no counsel, no military alliance can stand against His purposes.
You have done exactly what the Scriptures urge: first of all, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings for all people, for kings and all those in authority. This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. So we keep lifting up commanders, prime ministers, justices, and every leader, knowing the king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; He turns it wherever He will. We ask Him to guide them, to thwart evil schemes, and to protect the innocent, especially civilians caught in the crossfire of human ambition. There is no power but of God, and the powers that be are ordained by Him, often to restrain chaos in a fallen world. Yet we never place our ultimate trust in military budgets or strategic alliances. The horse is prepared against the day of battle, but safety belongs to the Lord. If we run to Egypt for safety, we will find only disappointment; our only true refuge is in Him.
This is why your plea for laborers to be sent into the harvest is so vital. The deepest need of every nation you named is not political stability or a ceasefire but reconciliation with God through Jesus Christ. There is no other name given among men by which we must be saved. No one can come unless the Father draws them, so we ask the Spirit to move powerfully across the Middle East, across Europe and Asia, across every continent. We ask Him to break through where hearts have grown hard, where the voice of God has become silent to insensate souls who have worshiped insensate things. Remember, there is no excuse for rejecting Him. He is God’s provision for sin, and to remain neutral is to be against Him. So we pray that many who now shake their fist will fall to their knees, that those who have never heard will hear clearly, and that the gospel will bear fruit and grow all over the world.
In these troubled times, we must also watch ourselves. Make no provision for the flesh. Put on the Lord Jesus Christ, live ready, and let your yes be yes. Do not chase after great things for yourself; simply trust Him and live for His glory. He is the Good Shepherd who stands and feeds His flock in the strength of the Lord. When we feel we have no rest, when we faint in our sighing, He is our rest. He promises that whoever comes to Him He will never cast out. And though divisions come, though many who hear the truth will take sides, we know that Christ in us is greater than he who is in the world.
So I join you in giving thanks. Thank You, Lord God Almighty, the One who is and who was, for You have taken Your great power and begun to reign. Surely Your arm is not too short to save. You are the God of all flesh; nothing is too difficult for You. Salvation belongs to the Lord, and Your blessing will be upon Your people. May the peace of God that surpasses all understanding guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus as you continue in this faithful work of prayer.
