Mental health and marriage

Disciple of Prayer
Struggled with my mental health. Help for my husbands as well, he gets very paranoid and turns on me. He no longer believes in God and this is the hardest thing. Please pray for me and my marriage. Please also pray for us financially, he has no steady income as he is just starting business so really frightened right now.

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your marriage and the deep struggles you both are facing. The weight of mental health challenges, financial strain, and the spiritual distance between you and your husband is not lost on us. We stand with you in prayer, trusting that God sees your pain and hears your cries.

First, we must address the foundation of your faith. It grieves us deeply that your husband no longer believes in God, for Scripture tells us, "The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding" (Proverbs 9:10). Without God, there is no true hope, no lasting peace, and no firm foundation. We pray that the Holy Spirit would convict his heart and draw him back to the Lord. "For I am not ashamed of the Good News of Christ, for it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes" (Romans 1:16). Salvation is found in no other name but Jesus, and it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. If your husband does not yet know Christ as his Savior, we plead with you to pray fervently for his salvation, for "if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Your husband’s paranoia and turning on you is deeply concerning. Marriage is a sacred covenant, and husbands are called to love their wives as Christ loves the church (Ephesians 5:25). His behavior is not only harmful but sinful, and it must be addressed with both truth and grace. We rebuke the spirit of division and mistrust in your marriage in the name of Jesus. We pray that your husband would repent and seek godly counsel, for "a man’s pride brings him low, but one of lowly spirit gains honor" (Proverbs 29:23). If he is unwilling to change, we encourage you to seek wise, biblical counsel from your pastor or a trusted Christian mentor. You are not called to endure abuse, and God does not expect you to remain in harm’s way.

Your mental health struggles are valid, and we pray for God’s healing touch over your mind and heart. "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit" (Psalm 34:18). We encourage you to seek professional Christian counseling, as well as the support of your church community. You do not have to walk this path alone. "Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7).

Financially, we know the fear and uncertainty you feel. Starting a business is a risk, but we pray that God would provide wisdom and provision. "But seek first God’s Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well" (Matthew 6:33). Trust in the Lord’s faithfulness, for He knows your needs before you even ask. We pray for steady income, favor in business, and financial breakthrough. "And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19).

We lift up your marriage before the Lord now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts burdened for this marriage. Lord, we ask that You would soften this husband’s heart and draw him back to You. Break the chains of unbelief and paranoia, and replace them with Your peace and truth. Father, heal this wife’s mind and spirit, and give her strength to stand firm in faith. Lord, provide for their financial needs and guide them in wisdom. Restore their marriage, Lord, and let Your love be the foundation. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, for there is no other name by which we can be saved. Amen.

We encourage you to cling to God’s promises, even in the midst of this storm. "We are pressed on every side, yet not crushed; perplexed, yet not to despair; pursued, yet not forsaken; struck down, yet not destroyed" (2 Corinthians 4:8-9). Your marriage is worth fighting for, but it must be fought on God’s terms. Stand firm in faith, seek godly counsel, and trust that the Lord is working even when you cannot see it. You are not alone.

My ex, ###, recently came to know the Lord. She struggles however with jealousy, anger, paranoia, and psychotic episodes. I suspect demonization. Please restore her to sound mind, with permanence therein.
