Matthew 6:33

We are so encouraged that you shared Matthew 6:33 with us, for this is a foundational promise for our daily walk with the Lord. In the verses just before this, Jesus tells us not to be anxious about what we will eat or drink or wear, for our heavenly Father knows that we need all these things, Matthew 6:31-32. Then He gives us the divine priority, But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well, Matthew 6:33. This teaches us that when we put God and His will first, above our own desires, worries, and plans, He faithfully provides for our needs according to His perfect wisdom and love.

To seek His Kingdom first means to desire His rule and reign in our hearts, in our homes, and in every decision we make, submitting to Jesus as Lord. To seek His righteousness means to hunger for His holiness and to live in a way that honors Him, not trusting in our own goodness but in the righteousness that comes through Christ. As it is written, Seek Yahweh while he may be found. Call on him while he is near, Isaiah 55:6, and we are reminded that God rewards those who diligently seek Him.

We also want to gently share with you that it is only through Jesus Christ that we can truly seek God and enter His Kingdom. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If we have not yet placed our faith in Jesus, believing that He died for our sins and rose again and confessing Him as Lord, we cannot truly know the Father or His righteousness. We encourage you to make sure your seeking begins with a personal relationship with Jesus.

We join together in prayer for you. Father in heaven, we thank You for Your Word and for this precious promise. We pray that You would help our dear friend and help us all to seek Your Kingdom and Your righteousness above all else, to turn from worry and to trust You as our provider and our King. Draw us closer to Yourself and teach us to seek You daily in prayer and in Your Word. We pray that if anyone reading this has not yet trusted in Jesus, that today they would call upon His name and be saved. Help us to live for Your glory, knowing You will supply all we need. We ask all these things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to continue to meditate on this verse and to live it out each day by starting your morning in prayer, surrendering your plans to the Lord, and asking Him to guide you in His righteousness. As you do, you will find His peace that passes understanding and His faithful provision in every area of your life, for those who seek Him with all their heart will find Him, Jeremiah 29:13.

Thank you for sharing the heart behind this verse with us. We hear a desire to keep God at the center when so many other needs and decisions pull for attention.

Putting first things first is less about trying harder to get our priorities perfect and more about bringing our whole selves to the Lord before we decide what to do next. We have found it helps to take a little focused time to pour out what is on our heart honestly, including the worries and even the frustrations, and to ask Him for wisdom for the next step. It is a quiet way of letting Him shape both our thoughts and our feelings as we learn to tell the difference between what we need and what we simply want right now.

A simple step that may help this week is to set aside a few minutes each morning before the day gets busy, to talk with the Lord about one pressing concern at a time. You might begin in silent prayer and then speak it out loud, asking for His guidance and thanking Him that He cares for you and will work for good as you seek Him.

We are grateful to pray with you and to trust God with you for clear direction day by day.

Father, thank You for this heart that wants to seek You first. We ask You to give wisdom, peace and steady guidance for each decision ahead. Help in trusting You with daily needs and in resting in Your care. Lead in the way You would have us go. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your setting of Matthew 6:33 before us is a gracious sign, for the soul does not first seek God of itself, but God first seeks the sinner and awakens him to seek His kingdom. The first words of every renewed life must be, In the beginning, God, and happy are you if your first thoughts are after His kingdom and His righteousness.

Faith is infallibly persuaded of God's goodness here, and she expects clearly to see that goodness here, and it is this expectation and belief which sustains the tried believer. Believing comes first, and then the seeing follows, and what you shall see is the glory of God. You have asked according to that promise which cannot fail, that if you believe on Christ you shall have peace, for He will not run back from His word.

We would encourage you to continue to seek first His kingdom, which is to seek Christ Himself, for there is salvation through Jesus Christ alone, and His righteousness alone can cover the sinner. All that is Godlike and holy comes from the Most High, and apart from the blood of Jesus Christ, God's dear Son, which cleanses us from all sin, there is no righteousness to seek or to find.

And while you pray this, pray after your Saviour's perfect model in the garden, Nevertheless not as I will, but as Thou wilt. You must feel that in any case God's will must be done, and you must still continue to pray, for you do not know what God's will is, yet you may rest upon three firm grounds of confidence, God's sovereignty, Christ's sacrifice, and God's immutability, for He abides the same forever. His sovereignty encloses you and His angels surround you, and He will hide you in the secret of His tabernacle.

May the Lord teach you from your youth and throughout your life as His pupil, to observe His wondrous works and to declare them, that you may be found among His jewels. We pray that He who has begun to teach you to seek His kingdom will keep you seeking, that He will give you to trust Christ alone, to hunger for His righteousness, and to see His goodness in the land of the living, and that all things needful shall be added unto you according to His fatherly pity and wisdom.

We join you in prayer that you may seek Him with your whole heart, find Christ to be your righteousness, and live to His glory, and that you may see with the eye of faith the glory of God revealed in providing all that His children need.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

It is good that you have set this verse before your heart, for it contains the whole order of the Christian life. To seek first His kingdom and His righteousness is to put Christ Himself first, before every anxiety about daily needs, comfort, or provision.

Christ is the true King of righteousness and King of peace. Righteousness is not something we establish by our own efforts, and peace is not something we create for ourselves. The righteousness God requires must exceed mere outward observance, and that righteousness is found only in submission to God through faith in Jesus Christ. When we try to establish our own righteousness we fall short, but when we receive His righteousness by faith, we are made right with God and brought into His kingdom.

To seek His kingdom first therefore means to desire His rule over your life, to trust His loving care for all other things, and to walk in the way of faithful obedience that flows from faith. All these things that cause worry, food and clothing and the concerns of this life, are in His hands, and He promises to provide as a Father provides for His children.

I pray that the Lord will strengthen you to keep this order in your daily life, that He will deepen your trust in Christ alone for salvation, that He will teach you to hunger for His righteousness and to live under His gracious reign, and that as you seek Him first, you will know His peace and His faithful provision day by day.

It is encouraging to see your heart set on this verse, for it points to the very center of what it means to walk with God.

In the beginning there was only one kingdom, the kingdom of God, the kingdom of light and life where God reigns. He created angels and then man with the ability to choose, and a second kingdom arose, a kingdom of darkness and death in rebellion against God. When man was placed on the earth he was placed in fellowship with God in His kingdom, but through choice he stepped out of that fellowship and into that darkness. The good news of the gospel is that Jesus Christ has made provision for you to come back. By placing your trust in Him, your sin is dealt with and you are brought again under the reign of God. That is what it means to enter the kingdom. It is not merely a place far off in the future, it is the present reality of submitting your life to be ruled by God.

To seek first His kingdom is to put God first in a practical, daily way. It is to desire His rule over your thoughts, decisions, and desires before anything else. And to seek His righteousness is to come not in your own goodness but trusting in the righteousness He provides through Jesus. You become an heir of God and a joint heir with Christ, not because you have earned it, but because you have trusted His Son. That trust is what pleases God, and He delights to reward those who diligently seek Him.

This kind of seeking will be tested. There will be times when you understand what God is doing and times when you do not, times when life is sweet and times when it is hard. The temptation is to begin to trust in your own strength, your own resources, or your own understanding. Scripture shows that when people turn from seeking the Lord to trusting themselves, they falter, but when they seek the Lord with a whole heart, He establishes them and blesses them. He is not a God you must carry or support. He is the living God who carries and supports you.

The promise of this verse is sure. When you make His kingdom and His righteousness the first priority, you can trust Him to take care of all the other things you need. He knows your needs and He is faithful. He has prepared an everlasting kingdom that will never end, and your hope is anchored there.

May the Lord help you to keep choosing Him day by day, to bring any sin honestly before Him so fellowship is not hindered, and to talk often of the glory of His kingdom and His power, for that blesses Him. May He strengthen your faith as you trust Him even when you cannot see the way forward, and may you experience His provision and His peace as you put Him first.

Father, I pray for this dear one who desires to seek You first. Draw them deeper into fellowship with You through Jesus Christ. Teach them to submit each day to Your reign and to rest in the righteousness You have given. Provide for every need according to Your wisdom and goodness, and let their life speak of the glory of Your everlasting kingdom. In Jesus name, Amen.
