We join you in lifting up the honor of our Father, His will and His Kingdom first, just as our Lord Jesus taught us to pray, and we rejoice that you have put the priorities in the right order.

You have quoted the very pattern Jesus gave us in Matt 6:9-13, where He says Pray like this, Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors. Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen. We love how this prayer begins not with our needs, but with worship, with hallowing His name, longing for His Kingdom to come and His will to be done. It teaches us that worship and surrender come before petition.

And you rightly connect this to Matt 6:33, But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. What a precious promise. When we seek Him first, when His glory and His rule in our hearts and on this earth is our chief desire, He faithfully adds what we need. Our daily bread, our forgiveness, our deliverance from evil, all flow from a heart that is centered on Him. This is not that God withholds good until we perform, but that when our hearts are aligned with His, we are in the place to receive and to steward His provision rightly. As it is written in Psalm 37:4, Delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart, and in 1 Cor 10:31, Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

We pray together with you now.

Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name. We praise You and thank You that You are holy, faithful, and good. We ask that Your Kingdom come and Your will be done in our lives, in our families, in our nation, and on earth as it is in heaven. We surrender our own agendas and ask You to reign fully in us. We thank You that as we seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness, You promise to add all that we need. So we bring our daily needs before You now, trusting You to provide our daily bread, to forgive us our debts as we forgive those who have sinned against us, to lead us away from temptation and to deliver us from the evil one. Yours is the Kingdom, Yours is the power, and Yours is the glory forever. We ask this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus, through whom we have access to Your throne of grace, and in whom all Your promises are Yes and Amen.

We encourage you to continue to linger in that Selah moment, to pause and reflect on His goodness. To pray without ceasing as taught in 1 Thess 5:17, not as vain repetition, but as ongoing communion, keeping His name hallowed and His will foremost throughout the day. As we do, we find our anxieties quieted, for He knows what we need before we ask, as seen in Matt 6:8, and His peace guards our hearts.

Thank you for sharing this prayer with us. We were encouraged to read your heart to put God's honor, His will and His kingdom first, and that pause you marked as Selah stood out. It reflects a desire not just to say the words but to linger with Him.

We join you in thanksgiving that we can come to Him as Father, and that we can trust Him with both the larger longing for His will to be done and the simple daily needs for bread, for forgiveness given and received, and for guidance and deliverance in the days ahead. Putting Him first has a way of gently putting everything else in its right place, and your prayer expresses that so clearly.

One simple practice that many find steadying is to keep this same pattern before you through the week, taking one line each day to pray slowly and noticing what the Lord brings to mind, then thanking Him for it. We appreciate you bringing this gratitude here and we carry it with you.

Father, we thank You for Your name and Your kingdom and for hearing us through Jesus. Thank You for meeting our daily needs and for Your mercy toward us. Keep forming our hearts to seek You first and to rest in Your power and glory. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer rightly puts first things first, as our Lord Himself has taught us to pray. You have not begun with your own wants, but with your Father's name, your Father's kingdom and your Father's will, and this is the true order of all prevailing prayer.

Our Saviour would have us say, Hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven, before we ever say, Give us this day our daily bread. And in this you follow that blessed word, Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. The promise is sure, for He who taught us to seek in this order has bound Himself to add all that we need when we seek Him first.

To seek first means in order of time. Give God the first minutes of every opening morning, and give Him the first day of the week. Begin the day with God, and begin the week with God, and you shall find the rest of the day and the rest of the week ordered aright. It means also in order of preference. If wealth and righteousness run counter to each other, let the gold perish and hold fast to righteousness. Follow Christ, however dear it costs you, for what shall it profit a man if he gain the whole world and lose his own soul.

And what is this kingdom and righteousness we are to seek. Our Lord Jesus is first King of righteousness and after that King of peace. He could not be King of peace to us till first He had woven a perfect righteousness in the loom of His life and dyed it in His own heart's blood in His death. Seek then to have the imputed righteousness of Christ by faith, and seek also to exhibit the infused righteousness which comes of sanctification, for righteousness is essential to peace. Out of righteousness peace is sure to spring up.

When you have sought His kingdom and His righteousness, then you may bring your daily bread, your debts, your temptations and your deliverance from evil, and lay them before your Father who knows what you have need of before you ask. He will add all these things unto you. It may not be as you expect, for you have asked for a thing which is apparently for God's glory, yet you may not at once receive it according to your desire. In such a case you must still continue to pray, but you must pray with resignation, after your Saviour's perfect model in the garden, Nevertheless not as I will, but as You will. God's sovereignty encloses you and God's angels surround you, and you have three firm grounds of confidence, God's sovereignty, Christ's sacrifice and God's immutability.

So continue to pray after this manner, believing that faith comes first and then the seeing follows, and you shall see the glory of God. He who has taught you to pray will also answer you, for His is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. May the Lord give you to live for God and for eternal life, and you shall find that you get all the things you need without seeking for them, because you have sought Him first. Amen.

Your desire to put God's honor and will and kingdom first in prayer is exactly as the Lord taught us to pray, and it is right to hold fast to it.

He gave us that order for our good. First we say Hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven, and only then do we bring our own needs. In this He lifts our thoughts to heaven before He allows us to speak of earth, so that we learn to seek His glory before our comfort.

And when we do bring our needs, see how gently He condescends to our weakness. He does not have us pray for riches or for delicate living or for costly things, but only for daily bread, that is bread for one day, so that we do not take thought for tomorrow but trust Him day by day. He teaches us also to pray Forgive us as we forgive, showing that mercy received must be mercy given, and Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. God is faithful and will not suffer you to be tempted beyond what you are able to bear, but with the temptation will make also the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

So continue to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, as you have quoted, and trust that all these other things shall be added to you. To remember God continually is the way we choose what is good and then by His help bring it to completion.

I pray for you that the Father who is in heaven will hallow His name in your life, that His kingdom will rule more fully in your heart and home, that His will will be done in you as it is done by the angels in heaven, that He will supply your daily bread, forgive your debts as you forgive, keep you from temptation, and deliver you from evil. May He preserve you unto His heavenly kingdom and fill you with thanksgiving, for His is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen in Jesus name, through whom alone is salvation.
