Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Your sharing of Matthew 6:33 is a good and timely reminder, and we join you in asking God to help you live it more fully.
To seek first His kingdom and His righteousness is to put Christ and His way above every other pursuit. The kingdom is not a small thing added to life, it is like treasure hidden in a field and like a pearl of great price, worth giving all else for. And the righteousness He calls us to is not outward appearance only. As Scripture says, unless our righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees we cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. That means a whole life made right before God, not only seeming righteous to others but being made righteous through Jesus Christ, who is the true King of righteousness and King of peace.
We pray for you that God will draw you to seek Him first each day, to trust Christ alone for salvation, and to walk in that universal virtue that flows from Him. We pray that you will make provision for what is necessary in this life for health and duty, but not to fulfill restless desires, and that you will spend your chief energy on spiritual things. As you seek Him first, we pray you will know His faithful care for all the other things you need, according to His wisdom and love.
May the Lord increase the fruit of righteousness in you, and keep you diligent to seek His kingdom above all else.
