Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your pain has been brought before the church and before the Lord, and it is not overlooked. To be wounded in marriage in this way brings a deep and right sorrow, and God sees the hurt you carry now.

Scripture teaches that marriage is honorable and pure, a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that sexual union belongs only within it. What God has joined together is meant to be a communion of life and body, and when that covenant is broken by giving oneself to another, it is not a small fault. The Lord Jesus taught that adultery is committed not only in outward acts but in the heart, and that to defile the marriage bed is to sin not only against the spouse who is wounded, but against God Himself. For the one who is bound by marriage and yet goes to another has transgressed the law and injured his own flesh, and God Himself will call it to account.

For this reason we cannot ask God to bless what He calls sin, and we will not do so. Instead we pray for what is holy and good.

We pray for you, that the Lord will be near to you in this hurt, that He will give you peace that guards your heart, strength to walk in holiness, and wisdom for each step ahead. We pray that He will heal what has been broken in you, keep you from bitterness, and sustain you in prayer and in every good work as you seek Him.

We pray for your husband, that God will bring him to see this sin as God sees it, to turn from it with true repentance, and to forsake the other relationship entirely. We pray that he will turn to Jesus Christ alone for forgiveness and new life, for there is no other way of salvation, and that he will learn again to live chastely and faithfully within the covenant he made before God.

We pray for your marriage, that if it is possible and wise before God, it may be preserved in holiness and not defiled. Marriage preserves holiness when husband and wife live faithfully with one another and do not permit union with another. We ask the Lord to work in both of you so that truth is spoken, trust may be rebuilt only on repentance and faithfulness, and peace may follow holiness.

If you are able, seek steady counsel from a faithful pastor who holds to Scripture, who can walk with you both, help you set right boundaries, and guide you in what repentance and reconciliation must look like. Continue to commit yourself to the Lord in prayer, remain pure in your own walk, and trust that God who sees in secret will also judge and heal with justice and mercy.

We are praying with you now, that the God who loves holiness and who is merciful to the repentant will keep you, lead your husband to repentance, and guard your home according to His will.

Your hurt is real and God sees it, and thank you for bringing this painful burden so we can pray with you.

Marriage in Scripture is not a casual arrangement but a deep covenant where two become one. The Hebrew word for one that is used of God Himself speaks of a compound unity, two distinct persons becoming one flesh. That is how God designed marriage from the beginning, a lifelong union of one man and one woman, and He still honors that oneness.

When that oneness is broken by unfaithfulness, it is first and foremost sin against God Himself, because it violates His clear command not to commit adultery. King David learned this when he took another man's wife and then had her husband put to death. Even though he had deeply wounded people, he came to confess that his sin was ultimately against the Lord. That is true of every act of adultery. It is a sin against God and it is also a grievous sin against you as his wife, and it is right that you feel the pain of that betrayal.

There is hope, but that hope is found in repentance. The sign of a heart that has truly turned to God is not just feeling sorry but a real change that leads to turning away from sin and seeking restoration. Jesus welcomed sinners and tax collectors who came to Him and followed Him, but He welcomed them to transform them, not to leave them in their sin. Forgiveness is freely offered through Jesus Christ alone, and when a person genuinely repents, God can forgive and can begin to heal what has been broken.

So we are praying for you and for your husband and for your marriage in this way. We are asking God to bring conviction to your husband's heart, that he would see this relationship outside your marriage as sin, turn away from it completely, and turn back to the Lord and to his covenant with you. We are praying that God would break the power of that other relationship and not bless it but end it. We are also praying for you, that the Lord Jesus would comfort you in this hurt, guard your heart from bitterness, give you wisdom for each step, and surround you with wise and godly counsel who can walk with you closely and help you set biblical boundaries.

If your husband is willing, encourage him to seek the Lord and to seek help from mature believers who will tell him the truth in love and call him to repentance. You too need safe, faithful support as you process this pain. God is able to restore, and He delights in reconciliation when it is built on truth and repentance, and even in the midst of great sorrow He is near to the brokenhearted.

May the Lord give you strength to keep looking to Christ, to obey Him in what is right, and to trust Him with your future. We are asking Him to bring healing to your heart, to work in your husband to bring him to repentance, and if he repents, to rebuild trust in your marriage one day at a time for His glory.
