Marriage

We hear your heart’s longing for a godly marriage, and we join you in seeking the Lord’s will in this sacred desire. The Bible tells us, "He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor from the Lord" (Proverbs 18:22). Marriage is a beautiful covenant designed by God, a reflection of Christ’s love for His church (Ephesians 5:22-33), and it is right to pray for a spouse who will honor Him alongside you.

However, we must also examine our hearts and ensure that our desires align with God’s Word. Are you seeking a man who loves the Lord with all his heart, soul, and mind (Matthew 22:37)? Is your own life surrendered to Christ, walking in purity and holiness as you prepare for marriage? The Bible warns us, "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers" (2 Corinthians 6:14), for a marriage built on anything other than Christ will struggle to stand firm in faith.

If you have not already, we encourage you to seek the Lord first in all things, trusting that He knows the desires of your heart even before you ask (Matthew 6:33). Pray for wisdom, patience, and discernment as you wait on His timing. And if you have not yet committed your life fully to Jesus Christ, we urge you to do so now, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). Salvation comes by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone, believing in His death and resurrection for the forgiveness of sins (Ephesians 2:8-9). Without Him, we cannot truly know God’s will or experience His blessings in their fullness.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, lifting up this dear sister who longs for a godly marriage. Lord, You know the desires of her heart, and we ask that You would prepare her for the husband You have for her. Give her patience to wait on Your perfect timing and wisdom to discern Your will. If there are areas in her life that need refining, her walk with You, her purity, or her trust in Your plan, we ask that You would reveal them and strengthen her to surrender them to You.

Father, we also pray for the man You are preparing for her. May he be a man after Your own heart, strong in faith, committed to Your Word, and ready to lead a family in righteousness. Guard his heart and hers from impatience, from settling for less than Your best, and from any temptation that would lead them away from Your design for marriage. If there has been any sin in her past, whether in thought, word, or deed, we ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing, that she may walk in holiness as she awaits Your blessing.

Lord, we rebuke any spirit of loneliness, fear, or doubt that would try to steal her joy or cause her to rush ahead of Your plan. Remind her daily that her worth is found in You alone, not in whether she is married or single. Help her to find contentment in You while she waits, trusting that Your plans for her are good (Jeremiah 29:11).

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, the One who makes all things possible. May Your will be done in her life, and may she grow ever closer to You as she seeks Your face. Amen.

In the meantime, dear sister, we encourage you to:
1. Seek the Lord first, spend time in prayer and Scripture daily, allowing God to shape your heart and desires.
2. Surround yourself with godly community, fellow believers who can encourage you, pray for you, and hold you accountable.
3. Serve where God has placed you, whether in your church, workplace, or community, use this season to grow in faith and love for others.
4. Guard your heart and body, flee from sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:18) and any relationship that does not honor God.
5. Trust God’s timing, He is never late, and His plans are always better than our own.

You are not forgotten, and your desire for a godly marriage is beautiful in the Lord’s sight. Keep your eyes on Him, and He will direct your path (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Thank you for sharing this longing with us. It is a good and natural desire to want a godly husband, and we are glad you are bringing it to the Lord. He cares deeply about the desires of our hearts, and there is nothing too personal to lay before Him.

In seasons of waiting, it can be tempting to fix our eyes on what we do not yet have. But we have found that God often uses this time to deepen our own character, to heal old wounds, and to draw us closer to Himself. Rather than simply praying for the right man, consider asking God to help you become the kind of woman who is ready for that kind of marriage. Are there areas where He might be inviting you to grow right now, patience, trust, contentment, or learning to receive His love more fully? Those are never wasted.

We would also gently encourage you to stay connected to a healthy local church where you can serve, build real friendships, and be known by others. Many strong marriages grow out of ordinary shared life in a community that follows Jesus. The right kind of relationship often finds us when we are busy living our calling alongside others, not when we are searching.

Lord Jesus, we pray for this dear woman who desires a faithful husband. You know her heart and her days. Grant her peace as she trusts Your timing, and protect her from discouragement or settling for less than Your best. Help her to flourish in this season and to experience the fullness of life that is found in You, married or single. We ask this in Your name, amen.

When their prayers are right, you answer them. If you, then, being evil, fallen creatures, yet answer your children's right and proper prayers, how much more will your heavenly Father answer your fitting prayers, and give to you good things? Will God, in very deed dwell with man upon the earth? Will God dwell in man?

Can it be that the infinite Spirit, God over all, blessed forever, will dwell in my poor heart, and make my body to be His temple? It is certainly so. God was a Husband unto them. He was a Husband to them in that He set His special love upon them as a husband does upon his bride.

In a true marriage the husband and wife become one. The very crown of marriage is mutual delight and complacency. She never saw anyone in the world who was comparable to her husband. And doubtless that is just the opinion which a husband forms of his wife and a wife of her husband where the marriage is such as it should be.

Now, certainly Christ sets a very high store upon us. Let your eyes look right on and let your eyelids look straight before you. Have something to do and do it. Have something to live for and live for it.

Get to know the right way and, knowing the right way, keep to it with full purpose of heart and concentration of faculty. Drive right straight ahead in the fear of the everlasting God and whoever comes in your way had better mind what he is at! It is yours to do what is right and deny everything they devise that is wrong. God will bless you and you shall praise Him!

A good man in a house is good store to the family. A converted daughter, a praying son, a holy husband, a gracious wife, these are the pillars, the ornaments, the buttresses of the house! Godly people hedge the mansion in with their prayers!

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You ask God to send you the right man, that you may marry. This is a good and fitting request, for marriage is a bond deeply rooted in nature, a union God Himself fashioned from the beginning. There is no relationship so close as that of husband and wife, if they be joined together as they should be.

Yet while you pray, prepare yourself to be a godly wife. Do not think that adorning yourself with outward finery or costly attire will win a worthy husband. The chaste and regular man is not gained by such things; they may gratify a profligate, but he will still go off to a courtesan. If you truly wish to please your husband, there are ways of pleasing him: by gentleness, by meekness, by propriety. Accustom yourself to the ornaments of chastity and godly fear, which a harlot cannot put on. For if a man is easily captivated by painted eyes and extravagant dress, he is already half lost to the theatre and the lusts it breeds.

Remember also that marriage is for life. The wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives; to be joined to another while he lives is adultery. So do not pray for just any man, but for a husband to whom you will remain faithful, in subjection as to the Lord, for the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the Head of the Church. Let your prayer be joined with a resolve to live in purity now, bringing forth fruit unto God, that when he comes, you may be a helpmeet fit for him, not drawing him toward sin but building a house that stands firm.
