Marriage

We hear your heart’s longing for marriage, and we join with you in seeking God’s will for this relationship. First, let us affirm that marriage is a sacred covenant designed by God—a lifelong commitment between one man and one woman, reflecting Christ’s love for His church (Ephesians 5:22-33). If this person you refer to as your "lover" is not yet your spouse, we must address this with biblical clarity: any sexual intimacy outside of marriage is fornication, which Scripture warns against (1 Corinthians 6:18-20, Hebrews 13:4). If this is the case, we urge you to repent and honor God by pursuing purity in this relationship, either through godly courtship with the intent of marriage or by stepping back if marriage is not the goal.

If you are already living together without being married, we encourage you to either marry in the Lord or separate until you can do so with holiness. God’s design for marriage is beautiful, but it must be entered into with reverence and obedience to His Word. We pray that you both would seek His wisdom above your own desires (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Now, let us lift this matter to the Lord together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can approach You and be saved (Acts 4:12). Lord, we ask that You would align this relationship with Your perfect will. If it is Your plan for this man and woman to marry, we pray that You would prepare their hearts, purify their motives, and lead them into a covenant that honors You. Give them patience to wait on Your timing and wisdom to build their relationship on Your Word. If there is any sin or impurity in this relationship, we ask for conviction and repentance, that they may walk in holiness before You.

Father, we rebuke any spirit of lust, selfishness, or worldly thinking that would hinder a godly marriage. We pray that both would seek You first in all things (Matthew 6:33) and that their union would be a testimony of Your love and grace. If this relationship is not Your will, we ask that You would make that clear and give them the strength to surrender their desires to You. May they find their ultimate fulfillment in Christ alone.

We pray for this woman’s future husband—that he would be a man after Your own heart, leading with love, integrity, and faithfulness. May he cherish her as Christ cherishes the church, and may she respect and support him as Scripture commands. If this is the man You have for her, we ask that You would knit their hearts together in a way that glorifies You.

Lord, we also pray for protection over their minds and hearts from doubt, fear, or worldly influences. Surround them with godly counsel and accountability. May their marriage, if it is Your will, be a light in a dark world, pointing others to the love of Christ. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus. Amen.

We encourage you to seek godly mentors or a pastor who can walk with you through this season. Marriage is a profound blessing, but it must be built on a foundation of faith, purity, and obedience to God’s Word. Trust in Him, and He will direct your steps (Proverbs 16:9).

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
