We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this marriage before our Heavenly Father. Father God, we know that You established marriage as a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, a reflection of Christ’s love for His church (Ephesians 5:22-33). We ask that You intervene in this union, restoring what has been broken and healing what has been wounded. Lord, we pray for Your divine grace to flood this home, softening hearts and renewing minds according to Your will.
First, we must address the foundation of all prayer—faith in the name of Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If this request does not yet come from a heart fully surrendered to Jesus, we urge repentance and belief in Him as Lord and Savior. Salvation is the first step toward true restoration, for it is only through Christ that we are made new (2 Corinthians 5:17). If this is already your confession, we rejoice with you and stand in agreement for God’s will to be done.
Father, we rebuke any spirit of division, bitterness, or unforgiveness that may have taken root in this marriage. Your Word commands us to forgive as we have been forgiven (Colossians 3:13), and to love one another as Christ loved us (John 13:34). We pray that both husband and wife would lay down their pride and surrender their hurts to You. Soften their hearts, Lord, and help them to see one another through Your eyes. We declare that no weapon formed against this marriage shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we bind every scheme of the enemy that seeks to destroy this union.
We also lift up the roles within this marriage. Wives are called to submit to their husbands as unto the Lord, and husbands are called to love their wives as Christ loved the church, sacrificing for her (Ephesians 5:22-25). If there has been disobedience to these commands, we pray for repentance and realignment with Your Word. Lord, teach them to honor one another above themselves (Romans 12:10) and to communicate with kindness and patience (Ephesians 4:29).
Father, we ask that You change the mindset and attitude of this husband toward his wife. Let him see her as a gift from You, a helper suitable for him (Genesis 2:18), and let him lead with humility and love. For the wife, we pray that she would respect her husband (Ephesians 5:33) and trust in Your plan for their marriage, even when it is difficult. Restore the joy and intimacy that You intended for them, both emotionally and physically, within the bounds of Your holy design.
We pray for childlike faith to be restored in this marriage—faith that trusts You completely, without doubt or fear (Matthew 18:3). Lord, let them become like little children in their dependence on You, seeking Your will above their own desires. May their home be filled with Your peace, a peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
Finally, we declare that this marriage is under Your protection. We stand against any temptation that would lead either spouse away from faithfulness, whether through infidelity, emotional affairs, or ungodly influences. Strengthen their commitment to one another and to You, Lord. May their marriage be a testimony of Your redeeming love and grace.
Heavenly Father, we trust in Your power to restore what has been broken. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
