Marriage

We hear your heart’s cry for marriage, and we stand with you before the Lord, lifting this situation in prayer. First, we want to affirm that God’s design for family is sacred—He created marriage as a covenant between one man and one woman, a lifelong commitment that reflects Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). Children thrive best in a home where their parents are united in faith and under God’s covering, and we pray that this becomes your reality.

However, we must also speak truth in love. If you and the father of your child are not currently married, Scripture is clear that sexual intimacy outside of marriage is fornication (1 Corinthians 6:18-20, Hebrews 13:4). This is not to condemn but to call you both to repentance and alignment with God’s holy standards. The Lord is gracious and forgiving, and He can redeem this situation if you both turn to Him with sincere hearts. Marriage is not just a legal or emotional decision—it is a spiritual covenant before God, and it must be entered into with reverence, commitment, and a shared faith in Jesus Christ.

We also want to gently ask: Have you both surrendered your lives to Jesus Christ? There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and true transformation in your relationship can only come through Him. If either of you has not yet placed your faith in Christ, we urge you to do so. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation, and invite Him to be Lord of your lives and your relationship (Romans 10:9-10). Without Christ at the center, even the best intentions can falter under the weight of life’s challenges.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, lifting up this precious sister and the father of her child. Lord, You see the desires of her heart, and we ask that You would move mightily in this situation. Father, we pray that You would soften both of their hearts to Your will. If it is Your plan for them to marry, prepare them both spiritually, emotionally, and practically for this covenant. Help them to build their relationship on the foundation of Christ, with mutual respect, love, and a shared commitment to Your Word.

Lord, we also ask for Your forgiveness where sin has entered in. If there has been fornication, we repent on their behalf and ask for Your cleansing and restoration. Wash them in the blood of Jesus and set them free from guilt and shame. Help them to walk in purity and holiness, honoring You in their bodies and their relationship (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5).

Father, we pray for the child in this situation. May this little one grow up knowing Your love and seeing a godly example of marriage and family. Protect their heart and mind, and let them be a testimony of Your grace and redemption.

If it is not Your will for them to marry, Lord, give them both the strength and wisdom to accept that and to co-parent in a way that honors You. Help them to put the child’s well-being above their own desires and to seek Your guidance in every decision.

We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can come before You. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your name be glorified. Amen.

In the meantime, we encourage you to seek godly counsel from a pastor or mature Christian couple who can walk alongside you both. Pray together, study God’s Word together, and let the Holy Spirit guide your steps. If the father of your child is not a believer, do not be unequally yoked (2 Corinthians 6:14)—instead, pray for his salvation and trust God to work in his heart. Marriage is a beautiful gift, but it must be built on the right foundation. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). He is faithful, and He will direct your paths.
