Marriage request

Please pray that God will provide a spouse for me, that we will be salts and lights of the world and of the earth. I believe that a marriage built on faith should center on Jesus Christ and the message of the cross, rather than physical locations or mailing addresses.

We rejoice with you in this desire for a godly marriage and we thank you for sharing this request with us. Your understanding is beautiful and biblical, that a marriage built on faith must be centered on Jesus Christ and the message of the cross rather than on physical locations or mailing addresses. A home is not made holy by where it is, but by Who reigns in it.

We agree with you that marriage is a sacred and lifelong commitment between a man and a woman as God designed from the beginning. Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh. Genesis 2:24 We believe God is the author of marriage and we strongly endorse your desire to pursue marriage in a way that honors Him. Courtship should always be with the purpose of discerning marriage to another Christian believer, not merely partnership or companionship. Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship do righteousness and iniquity have? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14

Your heart to be salt and light together as husband and wife is exactly what the Lord calls His people to be. You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be salted? Matthew 5:13 You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can't be hidden. Matthew 5:14 Even so, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:16 A Christ centered marriage becomes a powerful testimony to the world, displaying the love of Christ for His church and faithfully proclaiming the hope of the cross.

We also hear your faith in Jesus Christ, and that is the foundation of everything. It is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is in His name that we bring every desire and need before God.

We join our faith with yours and pray together.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You with thanksgiving for this heart that desires marriage for Your glory. We ask that You in Your perfect wisdom and timing will provide a godly spouse, a man or woman of faith who loves You above all else and who is committed to the message of the cross. We pray that You will prepare both hearts now, to delight in You first and to seek Your Kingdom and righteousness above all else. Help our dear one to wait patiently and purely, guarding heart and body for that covenant of marriage, and to grow in holiness, service, and devotion to Christ. We pray that the marriage You provide will indeed be salt and light in this world, a home where Christ is central, where Your word is honored, where prayer abounds, and where the gospel is lived and shared with others. Let that union reflect Your faithfulness and draw many to glorify You. We trust Your promise that whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of Yahweh. Proverbs 18:22 and that when we delight ourselves in You, You will give us the desires of our heart. Psalm 37:4 We ask this according to Your will and for Your glory, in Jesus' name, amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33 Remain rooted in the local body of believers, serve faithfully, remain in the Word and in prayer, and guard your courtship in purity and accountability so that when God brings your future spouse into your life, you will both be ready to build a marriage that honors Him for a lifetime. We are standing with you in prayer that the Lord will fulfill this desire in His perfect time and that your marriage will shine brightly for Christ.

Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. Your request has been heard and we join you in bringing it before the Lord in prayer. It is a good and holy desire to ask for marriage as God has ordained it, a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, entered into before Him and lived for His glory.

We thank God that you desire not merely companionship, but a union that will be as salt and light in this world, as our Lord Jesus said, Ye are the salt of the earth and ye are the light of the world. Such a marriage cannot be built upon outward things or upon physical locations, but upon the sure foundation which is Jesus Christ and Him crucified. When two hearts are first made new creatures in Christ Jesus, trusting wholly in Him alone for salvation, then they are prepared to love one another with the love that Christ has for His Church, that amazing love which led Him to give Himself for His spouse.

We pray for you now.

Our Father in heaven, we come through Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone is the way of salvation, and we ask according to Thy will. If it be Thy good pleasure, provide for this dear soul a godly spouse, one who loves Thee above all and who holds fast to the message of the cross. Make each one first faithful to Thee, walking by faith in Jesus Christ, washed in His blood and led by His Spirit. Should Thou grant this covenant of marriage, make it strong and lifelong, kept pure as Thou hast ordained, where love and fidelity are guarded within its bounds. Make their home to be centered on Christ, so that together they may show forth Thy grace and be a savor of Christ in this world. Give wisdom to wait upon Thy timing, to be both practical and spiritual, shrewd and yet wholly devoted to Christ, and to seek first Thy kingdom. Keep them from all that would dishonor Thee, and let their lives together, if Thou grant it, glorify Thee.

We encourage you to continue to trust Christ and to abide in His Word, to be much in prayer, and to bind the principles of His life continually upon your heart. He who has begun a good work will perfect it. May the Lord in His perfect wisdom and love answer according to what is best for your soul and for His glory.
