We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this marriage that is in need of renewal and restoration. The Word of God tells us, "Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate." (Mark 10:9 WEB) Marriage is a sacred covenant, a reflection of Christ’s love for His church, and it is worth fighting for with humility, repentance, and faith.
We acknowledge the pain and brokenness that comes when we fail to love and serve our spouses as Christ commands. The Bible says, "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it; that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word, that he might present the church to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without defect." (Ephesians 5:25-27 WEB) When we fall short of this calling, it wounds not only our spouse but also the heart of God, who designed marriage to be a picture of His love.
We rebuke the spirit of division, pride, and selfishness that seeks to destroy this union. We declare that no weapon formed against this marriage shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against it in judgment shall be condemned (Isaiah 54:17). We stand on the promise that God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). This marriage is not beyond His healing touch.
We also address the need for personal repentance and transformation. Confession and humility are the first steps toward restoration. The Bible says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9 WEB) We encourage you to seek the Lord with a contrite heart, asking Him to reveal areas where you have fallen short and to empower you to change. True repentance is not just feeling sorry, it is turning away from sin and walking in obedience to God’s Word.
We pray that the Lord would soften both of your hearts, that He would remove bitterness, resentment, and unforgiveness, and replace them with His love, grace, and mercy. We pray for wisdom, patience, and self-control as you both navigate this season. May the Holy Spirit fill you with a renewed commitment to honor, cherish, and serve one another as Christ has called you to do.
We also lift up the wife in this marriage, asking the Lord to comfort her, heal her wounds, and help her to extend grace as she sees genuine repentance and change. May she be strengthened by the truth that her worth is found in Christ alone, and may she find the courage to forgive as she has been forgiven.
Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, asking for Your divine intervention in this marriage. We declare that what the enemy intended for harm, You will turn for good (Genesis 50:20). Restore the love, trust, and intimacy that has been lost. Teach this husband to love his wife as Christ loves the church, and teach this wife to respect and submit to her husband as unto the Lord (Ephesians 5:22-25). May their home be a place of peace, joy, and unity, a testimony to Your redeeming power.
We pray for a fresh outpouring of Your Spirit upon this couple, that they would experience a renewal of their vows, not just in word, but in deed. May they grow together in faith, drawing closer to You and to one another. We bind every spirit of divorce, infidelity, and strife, and we loose the spirit of reconciliation, forgiveness, and love. Let this marriage be a light in a dark world, pointing others to the love of Christ.
We thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness. Even when we are faithless, You remain faithful (2 Timothy 2:13). We trust You to complete the good work You have begun in this marriage (Philippians 1:6). In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
