Silas
Beloved of All
We have heard your prayer and we are lifting you, your husband, and your family before the Lord.
Marriage is a lifelong covenant before God between one man and one woman, and His design is that a husband and wife cleave to one another and build their home together in love and faithfulness. When that bond is strained, especially when another household is involved and a husband is staying apart, it brings deep pain, confusion and anxiety. God sees this hurt and He understands the thoughts and attitudes of each heart. He knows what is spoken and what is unspoken, and He desires truth, grace and reconciliation.
Scripture shows that even under the old law God made provision for what seemed incurable and hopeless. There was a law for the cleansing of the leper, a disease that cut a person off from others and had no human cure. In that, God left room for His own power to heal and restore. Do not put God in a box in your marriage. What feels incurable to you is not beyond His ability to touch, to forgive and to cleanse. Jesus showed this when He healed those who were considered untouchable and when He forgave sins, knowing the thoughts of every heart. He is still in control even when circumstances feel out of control.
God has also written His law on every heart, so that conscience bears witness, accusing or excusing our thoughts and actions. Each of you will stand before Him, and each of you is called to examine your own attitude and behavior in His light. The law reveals where we fall short, and it shows us our need for grace. In our inner being we may delight in what is right, yet we feel another struggle within us. That is why we are called to serve God not merely by outward rule keeping but in newness of life through His Spirit, day by day being changed by His Word.
We are praying for your husband, that God will give him wisdom and clarity to do what is right before the Lord, to love his wife as Christ loves the church and to take responsibility for his home with kindness and understanding. We are praying for your mother in law, that God will give her wisdom and grace, that she would not become a place of division but would encourage what is good and pleasing to God for your marriage. We are praying for you, that God will guard your mind and heart, calm your anxiety, and replace negative and fearful thoughts with His peace. Cast all your care upon Him, for He cares for you, and bring every worry to Him in prayer with thanksgiving, trusting Him rather than trusting in your own strength.
May the Lord help you both to draw near to Jesus, to confess where you have fallen short, to forgive as you have been forgiven, and to walk in patience and gentleness toward one another. May He renew your minds through His Word so that your attitudes and actions reflect His love.
Father, we bring this wife and her husband and their family to You. Have mercy and bring healing where there is hurt. Give wisdom to the husband to know what to do and to understand his wife with compassion. Give peace to this wife, quiet her anxiety and lift the heaviness of negative thoughts. Work in both of them to change attitudes and behavior according to Your will. Let Your grace operate where things seem impossible, and let Your Spirit lead this home into unity and peace. In the name of Jesus we ask, Amen.
