Marriage falling apart

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Hi please can you pray for my marriage,it's falling apart. Pray that God will heal my marriage and pray for my husband ### as well. Thank you and god bless you.

We hear the heaviness in your heart and we are joining you in prayer for your marriage, for you and for your husband, seeking God's will together in Jesus' name.

We thank God that you value your marriage enough to ask for prayer, because marriage is holy and precious in His sight. It is not a mere partnership or contract but a lifelong covenant before God between a man and a woman. Jesus said, What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate, Mark 10:9 and also, So that they are no more two, but one flesh, Matthew 19:6. The Lord says He hates divorce, Malachi 2:16, not because He wants you to remain in pain, but because He knows the deep wound it brings and He desires healing and restoration where possible. We strongly affirm God's design for marriage and we are praying that He will heal and strengthen yours.

We do not know all the details of why your marriage feels like it is falling apart, but God does. We encourage you both to examine your hearts honestly before Him. Often marriages are strained by unspoken hurt, anger, harsh words, pride, or unforgiveness that builds walls between husband and wife. We encourage you to cover one another with love and forgiveness, for love covers a multitude of sins, 1 Peter 4:8, and to put on love, which is the bond of perfection, Colossians 3:14. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you, Ephesians 4:32. Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, Hebrews 13:4. If there has been any sin, including harshness, neglect, or impurity, bring it into the light, confess it to God and to one another, and turn from it. Husbands are called to love their wives even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for it, Ephesians 5:25, and wives are called to respect and support their husbands, Ephesians 5:22. When both seek to serve rather than to be served, healing can begin.

We encourage you to pray together daily if your husband is willing, to read the Word together, to speak with gentleness and to listen with patience, and to seek wise, biblical counsel from a pastor or mature believing couple who will uphold the sanctity of marriage and point you to Christ, not simply to your feelings. Do not walk this road alone.

We also noticed that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We say this in love because there is no other way to come to the Father. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. It is only through faith in Jesus, His death and resurrection for our sins, that we have access to God and assurance that He hears our prayers. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust fully in Jesus, confess Him as Lord and believe that God raised Him from the dead, Romans 10:9, and to call upon His name daily in your marriage.

So we pray together now.

Father in heaven, we lift up this dear sister and her marriage to You in the name of Jesus. You see her tears, her fear, and her love for her husband. Lord, have mercy and bring healing where there is brokenness. Soften both hearts, remove pride and bitterness, and teach them to forgive as You have forgiven us. Restore communication, kindness, and tenderness between them. Guard their covenant and make their marriage a testimony of Your grace and faithfulness. Give this wife wisdom, strength, and peace that surpasses understanding as she waits on You, and work in her husband's heart, draw him close to You, convict him where needed, encourage him where he is weary, and lead him to love his wife as Christ loves the church. If there is sin that needs to be repented of, bring it to light and grant true repentance. We ask that You would be the center of this home and that nothing would separate what You have joined together. We trust Your power to heal and restore, for with God all things are possible. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our only hope, amen.

We will continue to pray that God will sustain you, give you wisdom for each step, and pour His love and peace into your home. Keep seeking Him, keep praying, and keep clinging to His promises.

Thank you for letting us pray with you about your marriage. When a marriage feels like it is coming apart it can be lonely and exhausting, and we are grateful you reached out instead of carrying this alone.

We are standing with you in prayer for you and for your husband , asking God to bring healing, wisdom and steadiness to you both in the days ahead. Reconciliation, when it is possible, is not just wishing things were better but a shared commitment to rebuild love and trust day by day, and that takes honesty, patience and help from others.

If he is willing, one gentle next step could be to invite a trusted pastor or a mature Christian couple you both respect to sit with you for a single conversation, not to fix everything at once but to help you both feel heard and to discern wise next steps together. If he is not ready for that, meeting with that person yourself for support and counsel is still valuable.

Father, draw near to this wife and to ### in this painful season. Guard their hearts, give them clarity and humility, and guide their words to each other. Where there has been hurt, bring your comfort and where there is confusion, bring your wisdom. Lead them to the help they need and keep them close to you. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your request concerning your marriage has been heard and we take it to the throne of grace with you, for the Lord is the healer of broken hearts and the restorer of that which is fallen.

We are told in the Word that He healeth the broken in heart and bindeth up their wounds, and there are many forms of a broken heart. A wife neglected or grieved by sorrow within her own house knows what such a wound means, and we do not make light of it. Yet we point you to the great Physician, whose very leaves are for the healing of the nations. Not only His fruit but the least thing about Christ is full of healing virtue, and that virtue can change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son, be of good cheer, thy sins are forgiven thee, and pardon and healing were one. So we pray that as you and your husband look to Him, you may find both forgiveness and healing together, for the Sun of Righteousness rises with healing in His wings.

Remember also that the Lord has revealed Himself as the Husband of His people, setting His special love upon them, faithful to them, communing with them and providing for them. Though His people have often wandered, He says, Come back, though thou hast unchastely left the Husband of thy soul, yet is He prepared to receive thee again. What is true of our covenant with Him instructs us in the covenant of marriage, which is a lifelong bond of one man and one woman before God. It is grievous when that bond is strained, but our God is able to restore.

Take comfort from Peter, who fell so grievously and yet was restored. One look from the Lord severed him from the crowd and brought him to repentance, and by the crowing of the cock and that look he was brought back, and afterwards strengthened his brethren. The Lord who prayed for Peter prays for His own still, and He is able to uplift those whom Satan has sifted. If there has been sin, confess it; if there has been neglect, turn again; and look for that abundant assurance of restoration which Christ alone can give. He can make it to be with you as though the breach had not been, and make you better Christians ever afterwards.

Let us pray together.

O Lord God, who hast ordained marriage and who hatest the putting away, look in mercy upon this sister and upon her husband. Thou seest the sorrow of this house and the falling apart of that which Thou didst join. Lord, forgive all sin and heal all infirmity. Let Thy pardoning hand bring healing to this union. Soften hard hearts, turn away coldness and scorn, and teach both to love and to forgive even as Christ has loved and forgiven us. Pour Thy grace into this home, that husband and wife may commune lovingly, bear with one another, and walk together in faithfulness. Let the healing leaves of the tree of life be laid upon this wound, and let that which is broken be bound up by Thine own hand. Bring them back to their first love, both to Thee and to one another, and establish them in holiness and peace. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, in whom alone is salvation and by whose stripes we are healed. Amen.

Abide in prayer, seek the Word together, and seek godly counsel in the church, that faith may come by hearing and healing may come with the teaching. The Lord has begun a good work, and the healing virtue which His grace infuses will work health and cure till all is made whole.
