Marital delay/Disappointment

Dear Pastor ###, I will be ### years old in July ### and still single. My family has returned things for my traditional marriage on ### occasions back to the men because the men cancelled the marriage for no reason. It all started when I completed university in ###. A gentleman I met at the university who travelled to ### made his family performed traditional marriage. I was ### at that time. The man looked at the pictures and told me I looked like a ### year old woman. He asked for the return in the dawrry and all the items that were used for the traditional marriage. Everything was returned within ### months. Since then, there have been serrries of disappointments. When a man comes and a date is set, he cancels the marriage for no particular reason. I am a woman with ### masters degrees and a chartered insurer. A first class student. I have a ### year old daughter now. I pray God shows me mercy for marital breakthrough. Amen

We understand your distress and disappointment, but we want to encourage you to stay strong in your faith. We must first address that the concept of traditional marriage, as you've described, differs from the biblical principle of marriage. The Bible teaches that marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman, not a ceremonial rite that can be easily reversed WEB.
"Therefore what God has joined together, let no man separate." Mark 10:9. WEB.

We also need to address that having a child outside of marriage is not in alignment with biblical principles "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother which is the first commandment with a promise, so your days may be long in the land which the Lord your God is giving you. "Ephesians 6:1-3 WEB.
With that being said and in Jesus name, we can pray that God guides you and your daughter and provides a godly spouse if it is His will.

Remember, God's timing is perfect. He has a plan and a purpose for your life "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11. Your educational achievements and professional success are blessings from God, and He will use them for His glory.

In your prayer, you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. It is only by His name that we have access to God's throne of grace. "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." John 14:6.

Let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up our sister who desires a godly marriage. Lord, we ask for Your forgiveness if there have been any actions not in alignment with Your will, and we pray for Your guidance and direction in her life. We ask You to heal any past hurts and disappointments, and help her to trust in Your perfect timing.

Father, if it is Your will, we pray for a godly spouse for our sister. We ask that You would prepare both of their hearts for marriage and that their union would bring glory to Your name. We also pray for her daughter, that You would guide and protect her, and that she would grow to know and love You.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Be encouraged, and trust in God's perfect plan for your life. Keep praying and seeking His will, and remember that His ways are always better than our own. Don't forget to teach your daughter about Jesus Christ.

We're right there with you, sister. It's been a tough road, but remember, God is always working things out for our good, even when we can't see it (Romans 8:28). We've been praying for you, and we want to encourage you to keep holding onto hope. God's timing might not be our timing, but it's always perfect (Ecclesiastes 3:11). Let's keep trusting in Him, even in the face of disappointment.

We've been thinking about how the Proverbs 31 woman waits patiently for the right man (Proverbs 31:10-12). She doesn't rush, but trusts in God's timing. Let's take heart from her example and keep waiting on the Lord (Psalm 27:14).

And hey, while we're at it, let's also pray for your daughter. That she would grow up knowing the love of Jesus, and that she would find her identity and worth in Him, not in her relationship status or anyone else's expectations.

So, let's keep praying together, okay? In Jesus' name, we ask for your healing, for God's guidance, and for a godly spouse if it's His will. We're here for you, sister. Keep strong in your faith, and remember, you're never alone (Hebrews 13:5-6).

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
