Make instrument

Jonathan_M

Beloved of All
Dear Family Of God, Today I'd like to pray that O' LORD that you make me an instrument. Please stand with me in faith and prayer over this. All these things I humbly ask in Jesus Christ name with thanksgiving. Thank you.

We hear your heart’s cry, beloved, and we stand with you in unity before the throne of grace. Your desire to be an instrument in the Lord’s hands is a beautiful reflection of a surrendered spirit, and we rejoice in the humility and faith you’ve expressed. The Word of God reminds us in Romans 12:1-2, *"Therefore I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service. Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God."* This is the posture of a true instrument—one wholly given over to the Master’s use.

Yet we must also examine the heart behind this prayer. To be an instrument of God is not merely about being used for great works or visible impact; it is about being cleansed, refined, and made fit for the Master’s purposes. In 2 Timothy 2:20-21, we read, *"Now in a large house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of clay. Some are for honor, and some for dishonor. If anyone therefore purges himself from these, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, and suitable for the master’s use, prepared for every good work."* Are you willing to allow the Lord to purge and purify you, even when the process is painful? Are you ready to lay down your own ambitions, desires, and plans so that His will may be done through you?

We must also address the manner in which you approached the Lord in your prayer. While you rightly invoked the name of Jesus Christ, we noticed that you directed your prayer to "O’ LORD" rather than addressing the Father in the name of Jesus. Scripture is clear that there is no other name by which we may approach God. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."* And in John 16:23-24, He declares, *"In that day you will ask me no questions. Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full."* It is only through the blood of Jesus and in His name that we have access to the Father. Let us never take this privilege for granted or approach God in any other way.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up our dear brother/sister who has humbly asked to be made an instrument in Your hands. Lord, we thank You for their heart of surrender and their desire to be used for Your glory. We ask that You would take this vessel and mold it, refine it, and prepare it for every good work You have ordained. Purge them of anything that is not of You, Lord—any pride, selfish ambition, or hidden sin that would hinder Your work in their life. Fill them afresh with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in power, love, and a sound mind.

Father, we ask that You would open their eyes to see the opportunities You place before them each day to be a light in this dark world. Give them boldness to speak Your truth in love, wisdom to discern Your will, and compassion to minister to the brokenhearted. May they be a vessel of honor, sanctified and set apart for Your purposes. Use them mightily, Lord, not for their own glory, but for Yours. Let every word they speak, every action they take, and every thought they entertain bring honor to Your holy name.

We also pray for protection over their heart and mind. Guard them against the enemy’s schemes to distract, discourage, or derail them from the calling You have placed on their life. Remind them daily that it is not by their own strength or wisdom that they will accomplish Your will, but by the power of Your Spirit working within them. May they find their identity, worth, and purpose in You alone.

Lord, we thank You for the privilege of coming before Your throne in the name of Jesus. We trust that You hear our prayer and that You will answer according to Your perfect will. May Your name be glorified in and through the life of this dear one. In Jesus’ precious and powerful name, we pray. Amen.

Beloved, we encourage you to remain steadfast in your pursuit of God’s will. Spend time daily in His Word and in prayer, for it is in these moments of intimacy with Him that you will be shaped into the instrument He desires you to be. Remember the words of Ephesians 2:10, *"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them."* You are not an accident or a mistake; you are God’s masterpiece, created with purpose. Walk in that truth, and let it fuel your faith as you wait on the Lord.

If there are areas of your life where you know you need to surrender more fully to God—whether it be sin, unforgiveness, fear, or doubt—do not hesitate to lay them at the foot of the cross. The Lord is faithful to forgive and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). He is not looking for perfect vessels, but for willing ones. So come as you are, and let Him do the work of transformation in your life.

Lastly, surround yourself with fellow believers who will sharpen you, encourage you, and hold you accountable. Proverbs 27:17 tells us, *"Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens his friend’s countenance."* You do not have to walk this journey alone. Lean on the body of Christ, and let them be a source of strength and support as you seek to be used by God.

May the Lord bless you, keep you, and make His face shine upon you as you yield yourself to Him. Go forth in the power of the Holy Spirit, and be the instrument of God’s love, grace, and truth in this world.

Dear friend, we're right there with you, standing in faith and prayer as you've asked to be made an instrument in the Lord's hands. It's beautiful to see your heart's desire to be used by God, and we join you in that humble posture before Him.

We're reminded of Paul's words in 2 Corinthians 4:7, "But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us." Like these jars of clay, we too are fragile and weak, but it's in our weakness that God's strength is made perfect. So, let's trust Him to use us, just as we are, for His glory.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today, laying down our desires and ambitions at the feet of Jesus. We ask that You would take our dear brother/sister and mold them, refine them, and prepare them for every good work You have ordained. Help them to surrender all, even the areas that hurt the most, so that You can use them mightily.

Father, open their eyes to see the opportunities You place before them each day. Give them boldness to speak Your truth in love, wisdom to discern Your will, and compassion to minister to the brokenhearted. May they be a vessel of honor, sanctified and set apart for Your purposes. Use them, Lord, not for their own glory, but for Yours.

We also pray for protection over their heart and mind. Guard them against the enemy's schemes, and remind them daily that it is not by their own strength or wisdom that they will accomplish Your will, but by the power of Your Spirit working within them.

Lord, we thank You for the privilege of coming before Your throne in the name of Jesus. We trust that You hear our prayer and that You will answer according to Your perfect will. May Your name be glorified in and through the life of this dear one. In Jesus' precious and powerful name, we pray. Amen."

Let's keep seeking God together, dear friend. He's got great things in store for you!
