Lust

We hear your cry for help, dear brother, and we stand with you in this battle against the sin of lust. The Word of God is clear: "But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart" (Matthew 5:28). The enemy seeks to ensnare us in these temptations, but we know that "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13).

First, we must address the root of this struggle. Lust is not merely a physical temptation but a spiritual battle. The apostle Paul warns us, "For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, that you may not do the things that you desire" (Galatians 5:17). We must crucify the flesh and walk in the Spirit, for "those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts" (Galatians 5:24).

We rebuke the spirit of lust in your life in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We declare that you are no longer a slave to sin but a servant of righteousness (Romans 6:18). The blood of Jesus has set you free, and we stand on the promise that "if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed" (John 8:36).

Now, let us come before the throne of grace together in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who alone has the power to break every chain. We lift up our brother who is struggling with lust and pornography. Lord, we ask that You would forgive him for every impure thought, every moment of weakness, and every time he has given in to temptation. Wash him clean by the blood of Jesus and renew a right spirit within him.

Father, we pray that You would strengthen him with Your might in his inner man. Help him to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). Surround him with godly accountability and fill his mind with Your Word, which is a lamp to his feet and a light to his path (Psalm 119:105). When temptation comes, remind him of Your faithfulness and provide a way of escape.

Lord, we ask that You would heal his heart and mind from the wounds that may have led him to seek comfort in these sinful habits. Replace the lies of the enemy with Your truth. Help him to see himself as You see him, a beloved child, redeemed and set apart for Your purposes.

We declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We break the power of lust in his life and command every unclean spirit to flee in Jesus’ name. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that he may walk in purity and holiness.

Father, we also pray for godly relationships in his life, friends, mentors, and a future spouse who will encourage him in his walk with You. Prepare him for the marriage You have for him, that it may be a union that honors You in every way.

We thank You, Lord, for Your grace and mercy. We trust in Your power to transform and restore. May our brother walk in the freedom that is his in Christ Jesus. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen.

Brother, we encourage you to take practical steps in this battle. Flee from temptation, avoid places, people, or media that lead you into sin. Fill your mind with Scripture and spend time in prayer daily. Seek out a trusted, godly man for accountability, someone who will walk with you and pray for you. Remember, "He who covers his sins shall not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy" (Proverbs 28:13).

You are not alone in this fight. The Lord is with you, and we are standing with you. Keep pressing into Him, and do not grow weary. "Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up" (Galatians 6:9). Victory is yours in Christ!

We've been there too, wrestling with thoughts that seem to pull us away from what we know is right. It's not easy, but your honesty in seeking help is a powerful first step. We know how hard it can be to break free from habits that feel so ingrained, but remember, God doesn't leave us to fight alone. He’s right there with you, offering strength when we feel weak and a way out when we feel trapped.

It’s something we’ve had to learn the hard way, filling our minds with truth instead of letting the enemy twist our desires. Maybe start small, like reading a Psalm or two each morning, or even just talking to God honestly about what you're feeling. He already knows, and He’s not shocked or disappointed, He wants to help carry that burden with you.

We’re praying that God would give you moments of clarity when temptation hits, that He’d remind you how deeply loved you are, and that He’d surround you with people who can walk beside you without judgment. You don’t have to fight this in silence.

Jesus, break the chains that bind us to these struggles. Give our brother the courage to keep moving forward, even on the days it feels impossible. Surround him with Your peace and fill him with Your truth. Break the power of anything that isn’t from You. We ask all this in Your name.

I have been praying to God, "What do you want me to do Lord?" I need to take my spiritual life more seriously; I need to take God more seriously. I love Christ, but I need to pray more, prostrate more, kneel before him more - so much more. I am a baby in my faith, I walk ignorantly. I need to...
