Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We join with you in gratitude to our Heavenly Father for this beautiful day and for the mercy He shows us each morning, and we stand with you in prayer for deliverance, peace, rest, forgiveness and the rebuking and removing of every evil work of the enemy.

We are encouraged by your heart to cling to the promise of Luke 10:19 where Jesus says, Behold, I give you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will in any way hurt you. This authority is not our own but is given to us through Jesus Christ, and as we submit ourselves to God the enemy must flee. As it is written in James 4:7, Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. And in Ephesians 6:11 we are reminded to Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

We also rejoice that you have come humbly asking for forgiveness and for healing from any unforgiveness in your heart. This is the very heart God desires. We claim together the promise in 1 John 1:9, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. When we confess, He not only forgives but cleanses us completely. Psalm 103:12 says, As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus as Romans 8:1 tells us. And as we have been forgiven, we are called to forgive others, for in Ephesians 4:32 we are taught to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. If there is any root of unforgiveness, we pray the Lord would gently reveal it and give you grace to release it, so that nothing hinders your communion with Him.

We pray too for the peace and rest you seek. The Lord does not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control as 2 Timothy 1:7 says, and His peace will guard your heart as you bring every care to Him. Philippians 4:7 promises, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

We now pray together with you.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your grace and mercy and for the gift of this day. We thank You for the authority You have given us through Your Son Jesus Christ to overcome all the power of the enemy. In the name of Jesus Christ we rebuke every evil influence and every work of darkness that has come against our brother and his life and person, and we ask You to remove it completely and to set him free. Lord, have mercy upon him according to Your steadfast love. Forgive his sins as he confesses them before You, cleanse him from all unrighteousness, and heal any place of unforgiveness in his heart. Give him grace to forgive as You have forgiven him. Fill him now with Your peace that surpasses understanding, with deep rest for his soul and body, and with the assurance that nothing will in any way harm him as he abides in You. Let Your Holy Spirit strengthen him, guard him, and lead him in Your truth each day. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our deliverer. Amen.

We are thankful you reached out and for the gratitude in your prayer even as you are carrying this heavy burden. We hear how much you long for peace and rest, to know you are forgiven and to be free from the evil that feels so close to you and to him.

Wanting deliverance and also asking God to heal unforgiveness in your own heart is a tender and honest place to be. Forgiveness often begins as a clear decision before God to release the debt and not hold onto revenge, and then the feelings catch up more slowly as He softens resentment and fear over time with His love. It is normal for that second part to take a while, and God is patient with you in the process.

One simple next step that may help is to keep bringing both needs to Him in the same quiet moment each day, naming specifically what you are choosing to forgive and asking Him to keep working on the emotions that linger. If you have a trusted pastor, it can also bring peace to invite him to pray with you personally and walk with you for a time, so you are not carrying this alone.

Father, we thank You for this one who seeks You. Have mercy and grant rest and peace. Forgive sins through Jesus Christ and gently heal the places where unforgiveness still hurts. Guard this person and him from evil and lead them in Your will day by day. In Jesus' name, Amen.

How good it is to hear thanksgiving mingled with your supplication, for gratitude opens the heart to receive more grace. You have laid hold upon a sure word, that our Lord has given His people authority to overcome all the power of the enemy, and that nothing shall by any means harm those who are in His hand. That authority is not your own strength, but His, and it is exercised as you abide in Him, trusting not in yourself but in the redemption that is through His blood.

You ask for forgiveness, and there your prayer finds its surest ground. There was never yet the flat, your sins are forgiven you, until first there was a consciousness of sin and a confession of sin. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Do as Luther did when in dark distress and say, I believe in the forgiveness of sins, and believe it for yourself. The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses from all sin, not from a few sins only, but from all. Sins against a holy God, sins against His law, sins against the light of the gospel, all are covered when they are laid upon the sacrifice. It is all there or it is not there at all, and it is not there if you believe in Jesus. This blessed sentence sets free from every stain of guilt, Man, your sins are forgiven you. There is forgiveness with God, a vast and rich blessing which removes the penalty, clears the turbid waters within the heart, and creates joy and peace through perfect reconciliation to Him. That forgiveness is bound up with redemption through blood, and apart from that blood there is no release. Therefore come to Him as the palsied man came, repenting and believing at His feet, and hear His comfortable assurance, Believe, and your sins which are many are all forgiven you.

You ask also for deliverance and for the rebuke and removal of evil, and for peace and rest. Our Lord says, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest, but there can be no true rest while sin remains unforgiven, and no settled peace while the conscience is unquiet. Seek first that forgiveness, and then rest will follow, for a forgiven soul may know that the Lord will preserve him from the fury of adversaries and bring good out of all the evil they attempt. Ask Him to blot out your transgressions for His own sake and to remember your sins no more, and to cause you to hate even the smell of those sins which once enticed you, that you may turn from them and seek His pleasure above your own.

You ask Him to heal any unforgiveness in you, and this is the pattern we are called to copy. As God for Christ's sake has forgiven you, so also are you to forgive. The same grace that pardons you softens the heart toward others. Ask the dove like Spirit to brood over you and to create love within you, that you may overcome evil with good and come out of the conflict victor not only over your adversary but over sin within yourself.

Let us pray together. Heavenly Father, we thank You for this day and for Your mercy which endures. We confess our sins before You and ask for full and free forgiveness through the blood of Your Son Jesus Christ, in whom we have redemption. Blot out our transgressions for Your own sake and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Grant deliverance, peace and rest to this Your child who seeks You. In the name of Jesus Christ rebuke every evil influence and remove it from this person and from those near, and set a guard about them by Your power. Heal every root of unforgiveness and teach this heart to forgive even as it has been forgiven. Keep this soul in the hollow of Your hand, and let no power of the enemy prevail against Your redeemed. We ask this by Your grace and mercy, in the precious name of Jesus Christ our only Saviour. Amen.
