We join you in bringing this burden before the Lord and we thank you for your heart to see the self-centered brought to repentance and faith in Christ.
Scripture warns us that this spirit of self-love would be prevalent, especially in the last days. For we are told, But know this, that in the last days, grievous times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant 2 Tim 3:1-2. This love of self is not harmless, it is idolatry where self is placed on the throne that belongs to God alone. It stands in direct opposition to the call of Christ who said, Whoever wants to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me Mark 8:34.
We see that self-centeredness is rooted in our fallen nature and can only be truly healed by the new birth. God promises, I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you Ezek 36:26. Only when a person is born again through faith in Jesus Christ can the heart be changed from loving self to loving God and loving others. We are instructed, doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself, each of you not just looking to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others Phil 2:3-4. This humility is not natural to us, it is the fruit of the Spirit working in a life surrendered to Christ.
We pray together for these who are lovers of themselves.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and we lift up every person who is trapped in self-centeredness and self-love. Lord, we ask that You open their eyes to see the emptiness of living for self and the sinfulness of putting self before You and before others. By Your Holy Spirit, convict them of sin and draw them to repentance. We pray that they would hear the gospel, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures and rose again, and that they would believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved. Create in them a new heart, take away the stony heart of pride and give a heart of flesh that loves You and seeks to serve others. Teach them to deny themselves, to take up their cross and follow Jesus, and to walk in humility and love. For those who already know You but still struggle with selfishness, we ask that You renew their minds and conform them more to the image of Christ. Let Your love be poured into their hearts so that self is dethroned and Christ reigns. We ask this in the precious and only saving name of Jesus, amen.
We encourage you to continue to pray faithfully and to speak the truth in love to those who are self-centered, remembering that love is patient and is kind, love does not envy, does not brag, is not conceited 1 Cor 13:4. We are called to be patient and to share the hope of the gospel, knowing that God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance 2 Pet 3:9.

We appreciate you bringing this to prayer. It is heavy to watch people who seem wrapped up in themselves, and to care enough to want more for them than just better behavior, but real change in Christ. We join you in that desire.

It grows slowly through honesty, reflection, and often through the hard places of life that humble us. People who are very self focused are often quite blind to how they come across to others, which is why change usually needs both God's work in the heart and relationships that gently show a different way.
One simple way we can keep praying with purpose is to bring one or two specific people by name before the Lord each day, asking Him to soften their hearts toward Him and to give us eyes to value them as He does. It also helps to look for a quiet, practical opportunity to model that other-centered life, a small act of service or listening that reflects the servant heart of Jesus without making a point of it.
Father, we lift these men and women to You. You see where pride and self interest have taken hold, and You alone can bring new life. Draw them to Yourself, open their eyes to their need for You, and bring the transformation only You can give. Give our friend persistence in prayer and wisdom in loving them well. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your request concerning those who are lovers of themselves touches a sorrow which Scripture itself foretold, and it is right that we should carry such souls before the throne of grace.
We join you in praying that the Lord, who alone is salvation, will be pleased to humble their pride and bring them to faith in Christ Jesus. The way of salvation is so simple and so gracious, and yet so often resisted by the fullness of heart that says, What have I to do with Jesus, thou Son of the Most High God. The Scripture says, Whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed. To believe on Him is to trust in Him, to look unto Him and be saved, all the ends of the earth. It is but a look, four letters, and two of them alike, Look unto me and be ye saved. That look does not require a moment, and yet it brings present and perfect salvation.
We pray that God will show these self centered ones that salvation is without money and without price, not by works nor by merit, but by Divine Grace through faith in Christ Jesus alone. He has laid in Zion a foundation, even Christ Himself, for He Himself is salvation, and there is none other. May the Lord take down their pride, and show them that beside Him there is none else, that they may come empty handed to receive the wine and milk of free grace.
A part of salvation is to be delivered from selfishness, to be lifted from the level of selfishness to the heights of Divine Grace. A man who is truly saved from selfishness will desire to see others brought to Jesus feet, for the common salvation is not to be kept to ourselves but to be made common to all who will hear. So we pray that those who now live only for themselves may be saved indeed, and being saved, may be made unselfish, loving God and loving their neighbor as the fruit of grace.
We will entreat the Lord to work with you as you pray and witness, that He would bring these souls to hear His Word, for faith comes by hearing, and that He would grant them repentance and faith to look unto Christ and live. May His honor be engaged to save even the most self loving heart that trusts Him, and may He keep that soul secure beyond hazard.
May the Lord hear your intercession and answer it for His glory, turning lovers of themselves into lovers of Christ.

Thank you for sharing this burden, and we join you in bringing it before the Lord.
We pray for those who are lovers of themselves, that God in His mercy would open their eyes to see their need and draw them to salvation through Jesus Christ alone. Scripture warns that pride comes from a small and low mind, while humility comes from greatness of soul, and that nothing is so hostile to love as pride. We ask the Lord to humble proud hearts, to quench self love, and to teach them the freedom that comes through the cross, remembering that we were bought with a price and are called to live not as servants to self but as servants to Christ.
We pray that they would hear the gospel, repent and be converted, and that God would heal and change them by His grace. May they turn from living for themselves to living for Him who died and rose again, freely receiving what Christ has freely given, and learning to give love to others without covetousness or boasting. We ask that God would replace self centeredness with a heart that is patient, gentle, and mindful of others, and that He would make them new in Christ.
