Loved ones

Thank you for sharing this burden for your loved ones. It is right and good to bring them before the Lord in prayer, and we join you in asking God to draw each of them to faith in Jesus Christ.

The gospel rests on this truth, that salvation is the gift of God through faith in Jesus Christ alone. It is by grace through faith, not of ourselves and not of works, so that no one can boast. God has opened the door to all people. His word says whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. No one is beyond the reach of His mercy.

Scripture shows us that God loved us first, while we were still sinners and far from Him. He so loved the world that He gave His only Son to be the payment for our sins, and Christ died for the ungodly so that we could be forgiven and reconciled to God. We are the ones who turned away and need to be reconciled to Him, and He now pleads through His people as ambassadors, urging others to be reconciled to God through Christ. When anyone is in Christ, he becomes a new creation. The old things pass away and all things become new. What we cannot do in our own strength, God can do. With men salvation is impossible, but with God all things are possible.

For those caught in the new age movement, we pray with special discernment. That system offers a counterfeit hope. It speaks of a new age brought about by human consciousness, spiritual techniques and other voices, but it is a deception. The true new age will not come through those means. It will come when Jesus returns and God Himself restores creation. He has promised to make new heavens and a new earth, a complete creation out of nothing, and a kingdom in which He reigns in righteousness. That future is glorious and sure, and the former things of this fallen world will not be remembered. For those who belong to Jesus, there is also the promise of a new body, vastly superior to this present one, made by God to live forever with Him.

God is rich in mercy and great in love, and He is not willing that any should perish. He is our salvation, our strength and our song, and we can trust Him and not be afraid. He invites all to draw with joy from the wells of salvation that are found in Jesus, who is the Lord our salvation come in the flesh.

We pray now for your loved ones, that God in His love would open their eyes to see Jesus as He truly is, that He would soften their hearts to receive His word, turn them from counterfeit spirituality to the truth, and grant them repentance and living faith. We pray that they would know they are loved even now, that they would hear the call to be reconciled to God, and that they would become new creations in Christ. We pray also for you, that God would give you grace to love as He has loved you, to forgive as you have been forgiven, to speak the truth with love, and to be strengthened through His word as you continue to intercede. May you be kept by the power of God through faith, and may you find peace as you entrust those you love to the One who is able to save to the uttermost all who come to Him through Jesus.

Father, we lift these loved ones to You. You know each name and each heart. Draw them by Your Spirit, reveal Jesus to them, deliver them from deception, and bring them into the new life that is only in Your Son. Give faith where there is unbelief and light where there is darkness. Do this for Your glory and for their eternal good. In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.
