We join with you in this deep sorrow and lift you and your whole family before the throne of grace in Jesus' mighty name, thanking you for coming to the Father through Him, for there is no other name by which we are saved and by which we have access to God as Acts 4:12 and John 14:6 tell us.

Our hearts ache with you in the sudden loss of your beloved cousin and best friend, and in the loss of three cousins so close together. It is right and biblical to grieve even while we trust that God makes no mistakes and that His will is perfect. Your tears are not a lack of faith, they are the expression of a loving heart that is broken, and the Lord is near to you in that brokenness. Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Matthew 5:4 says Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 calls Him the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction. Revelation 21:4 reminds us that He will wipe away every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain any more.

We are so thankful to hear you say that both you and your cousin were saved as children and that she loved the Lord, for we have the blessed hope that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord as 2 Corinthians 5:8 teaches, and that those who sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him as 1 Thessalonians 4:14 promises. That does not take away the pain of missing her, but it anchors us in hope.

We pray together for the healing, protection and comfort you asked for, and for the provision for her proper funeral.

Father in heaven, we come before You together in the name of Jesus Christ and thank You for today and every day You give. We ask You to heal, bless and protect this dear sister, her four children, and the five children left behind by her cousin, and all the family who are hurting so deeply. Let no weapon that is formed against them prosper as You have promised in Isaiah 54:17, and deliver them from all evil as You taught us to pray in Matthew 6:13. Be their refuge and fortress, their God in whom they trust according to Psalm 91:1-2, and cover them under Your wings as they go to and from school and in all their ways. Lord, wrap Your hands around them in this time of sorrow, be their eyes when they cannot see and their strength when they can barely hold their heads up. We ask You to provide for the funeral needs according to Your riches in glory, for Philippians 4:19 says our God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Give this precious sister supernatural strength to continue on for her family and her children, yet also give her permission to grieve and to cast all her cares on You because You care for her as 1 Peter 5:7 says. Replace the feeling of loneliness with the assurance of Your presence, for Deuteronomy 31:8 says Yahweh himself is who goes before you, he will be with you, he will not fail you nor forsake you. Pour out Your peace that surpasses all understanding to guard their hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus as Philippians 4:7 promises, and comfort them as only You can. In Jesus mighty name we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to keep bringing every burden to Him in prayer, for Philippians 4:6 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. It is not weakness to need help, and being strong for your family does not mean you cannot weep or lean on others. Allow godly family, friends and your church family to help carry this load, and continue to speak truth to your children and to your cousin's children that God loves them, sees their tears, and will be a Father to the fatherless as Psalm 68:5 says. Keep shielding your children and those five precious children in prayer daily, reading scripture with them, and reminding them that even in this valley, we are never alone. The Lord will be your strength day by day as Isaiah 41:10 says Fear not, for I am with you, do not be dismayed, for I am your God, I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. We are standing with you and trusting God to carry you through this season of sorrow into His healing and hope.

We have been carrying you and your family in prayer since we read your note. To lose your favorite cousin and best friend so suddenly, and to have lost three cousins so close together, is a lot of sorrow to hold at once. It makes sense that you feel broken even as you trust the Lord. Both can be true at the same time.

Grief is so personal and no two people walk through it the same way. You and your cousin's five children and your own four children will each feel this loss differently, and children especially tend to grieve in short bursts, opening up when they feel safe and then stepping back. Giving them gentle space to share a memory or a feeling when they want to, without pressure to talk, can be a kindness to them and to you.

You mentioned feeling you need to be strong for everyone while you are hurting yourself. It helps to let one or two trusted people help carry the practical load right now. If you can, ask someone you trust to help coordinate the funeral fundraising and daily needs, so you are not holding all of it alone. And if the sadness, exhaustion, or sleeplessness feels heavy for many weeks, it is a good and steady step to talk with a pastor or counselor along with prayer.

Father, we lift this family to You in Jesus' name. Wrap Your comfort around each grieving heart, watch over these children on their way to and from school and over her children in their loss, and give this dear sister strength for each day as she cares for her family. Provide for what is needed for a proper funeral and draw them close to You in this sorrow. Amen.

I'm sorry for your loss, may God protect you and comfort you, may His love and grace surround you and bring you peace.
In Jesus'name I pray, Amen

Your prayer has been heard and your sorrow has deeply moved us, and we join with you in bringing it before the throne of grace.

The Lord knows what it is to have an aching heart, and His word to His people is, Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. He does not leave His own to sorrow alone, but He draws near to the brokenhearted and gives a comfort that can be pressed to the bosom in the darkest hour. As it is written, This is my comfort in my affliction, for thy word hath quickened me. It is not the letter alone, but the Spirit working through the Word that quickens and sustains when strength fails and tears flow.

You have endured much, losing three cousins in these months, and now the sudden loss of your dear cousin who was as a best friend. It is right to weep, for love feels its loss keenly. Yet even in this grief you have spoken precious truth, that you trust His will and know He makes no mistakes, and that your cousin loved the Lord and was saved. What a mercy to have that hope, that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord for those who are in Christ. The sorrows that cling to us here will not follow us there, and though we mourn now, we do not mourn as those who have no hope.

You asked for strength to be strong for your family and for your children, and for protection over all the little ones, both your four children and her five who are hurting so deeply. Hear this promise, They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. Human strength, whether of body or mind or spirit, will spend itself and fail in due time, but when we wait upon the Lord, submitting ourselves completely and trusting entirely in Him, He increases strength to those who have no might. He will be your eyes when you cannot see, and your strength when you can barely hold your head up. He will shield your children and hers as they go out and come in, for He keeps all who trust in Him as Mount Zion which cannot be removed.

We are praying for you now.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for this dear soul who trusts in You even in brokenness. Lord, comfort this grieving heart and the hearts of all the family. Wrap Your hands around these children who have lost their mother and their godmother, and let them know they are not forsaken. Be near to the five little ones who mourn their mother, and to the four who mourn one who had such a great impact on their lives. Give this mother strength to continue day by day, to care for her family, and to find her renewal as she waits upon You. Provide, we pray, for the needs of the funeral, and open the hands of Your people to help that there may be a proper laying to rest. Deliver them from all evil, let no weapon formed against them prosper, and cover them with Your wings as they go to and from school and in all their ways. Quicken them by Your Word, and let them feel that though they may feel alone, they are never alone, for You have loved them with an everlasting love. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who died to redeem such souls as ours and who lives to comfort and to keep. Amen.
