Loved Ones Finding Jesus

We join you in thanking God for the desire He has already placed in your friend's heart to find Jesus, for we know that no one can come to Him unless the Father draws him. We praise God that He is drawing your friend even now and we stand with you in prayer that this desire will grow into full surrender and faithful obedience.
The scriptures assure us that God is near to those who seek Him. Jeremiah 29:13 says You will seek me, and find me, when you search for me with all your heart. And Matthew 7:7 tells us Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you. James 4:8 promises Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Your friend's struggle to carry out his desire is common to us all, for in our own strength we are weak, but God Himself works in us to make us willing. Philippians 2:13 says for it is God who works in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure.
We encourage you to continue to pray faithfully for him, to share the truth of the gospel with gentleness and love, and to invite him to hear the Word of God and to fellowship with other believers. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 reminds us There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is only through faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord, that we are saved as Romans 10:9 teaches that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear friend to You. We thank You for stirring his heart to seek You. We ask that You remove every hindrance and every doubt that keeps him from fully following You. Pour out Your Holy Spirit upon him, open his eyes to see the truth of Your love and the hope of salvation in Jesus, and give him a willing heart to repent, believe, and obey. Lead him to Your Word, give him hunger to read it and understand it, and guide him onto the path You have prepared for him. Grant him courage to surrender his life to You and to walk in Your ways all his days. We also pray for the one who brought this request, that You would give continued boldness and compassion to be a faithful witness and friend. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.
We encourage you to keep interceding for him and to trust that God who began this good work will be faithful to complete it as your friend responds to His calling.

You might offer to read through one of the Gospels together a little at a time, or invite him to worship with you when he is willing, and continue to pray for him and with him in short, honest prayers. Your steady friendship and quiet example can mean a great deal as he sorts out his next steps.

It is a gracious sign that your friend has any desire to find Jesus, for no man seeks Him till the Lord first seeks him. That state of seeking for Jesus is a mingling of light and darkness. There is light in it, for the soul has been awakened to feel its need of a Savior, and there is darkness in it still, for the seeker is often tumbled up and down in his thoughts and perplexed by ignorance of the way of salvation.
Know this for your friend and tell him plainly, the way of salvation for a sinner is simply this, that he, being a sinner, does now put his trust in Christ Jesus the Substitute for sinners. The greatest of all works, the most Godlike work, is to leave off self righteous seeking and trust in Jesus. It is not written, he that believes on Jesus nine parts out of ten and on himself for the other tenth, but whoever believes on Him, on Him alone. Jesus will never be a part Savior. He must be all in all, and faith must look to nothing but Jesus only on that dear cross where all our confidence must hang.
We will join you in prayer to the Friend who sticketh closer than a brother, who loved us before there was any time and who loves at all times. We will pray that the Lord will bring your friend not only to desire but to unconditional surrender, to submit himself to God and to God's way of saving him, which is by grace, not by merits, by the blood of Jesus, not by tears and sufferings. May the Lord bring him down from proud pretension and enable him to see life and salvation in Jesus Christ, and to trust the Lord Jesus Christ now, for he is saved the moment he believes.
Let us pray together. O Lord our God, we thank Thee that Thou hast put a desire for Christ in this soul. Turn desire into faith and seeking into finding. Take away the perplexity and show him clearly that to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ is to be saved, full and free, needing nothing of his own to help it or to buy it. Make him willing in the day of Thy power, cast the tree of the cross into the bitter waters of his trouble, and let him see Jesus as his own Friend and Savior. Draw him to do whatever Thou commandest out of love to Thee, and keep him from forsaking Thee. Bring him into that happy company who can say, We see Jesus, and who find that to see Him is to be made holy and to be made joyful. For Jesus sake, Amen.
